President Trump openly criticized former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene after Republican Clay Fuller captured the special election runoff in Georgia’s 14th District. The back-and-forth highlighted a sharp split between Greene and Trump, featured direct social posts from both, and underscored a low-turnout race that still drew national attention.

Trump wasted no time marking the result as a repudiation of Greene’s tenure and style. “Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Brown’s (GREEN TURNS TO BROWN UNDER STRESS!) seat in Congress has been taken over by a wonderful and talented man, Clay Fuller, who won convincingly, and right from the beginning, despite many people running for that ‘TRUMP’ +37 seat, and despite the stench left by Greene,” Trump declared in a Wednesday Truth Social post. He added, “Congratulations to Clay Fuller, a very large improvement over his deranged predecessor!” and framed the win as a course correction for the district.

Fuller’s margin in the special election was roughly 11 percent, a notable drop from Greene’s 28-point re-election victory in 2024 but still a decisive GOP outcome. Observers pointed out that turnout in the special was much lower than during the presidential cycle, which complicates simple comparisons of percentages. The result nevertheless gave Trump room to contrast Fuller’s appeal with Greene’s controversial tenure.

Greene responded angrily on social media, insisting the seat “was never in danger of flipping blue, but the results speak for themselves. Trump flipping MAGA from America First to America Last, covering up for the Epstein files, and betraying key campaign promises of no more foreign wars has been the best help for the Democrats. Sad!” Her message framed the loss as evidence of broader conservative frustration with Trump, not with the candidate who won the seat.

The rupture between Greene and Trump did not happen overnight; it followed a public falling out last year and Greene’s early departure from Congress this year. Once a staunch Trump ally, she has since become one of his loudest critics, accusing his circle of enabling what she calls dangerous behavior. That split has played out in blunt language on both sides and in a steady stream of social posts that nationalize a local race.

Trump’s own social posts drew sharp rebukes for tone and content, including a fiery message about Iran that provoked alarm among critics and allies alike. “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the F—in’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah,” Trump said in the post on Sunday. Greene called that post evidence that he had “gone insane” and publicly pressed for accountability.

In part of a lengthy on X, Greene asserted, “Everyone in his administration that claims to be a Christian needs to fall on their knees and beg forgiveness from God and stop worshipping the President and intervene in Trump’s madness. I know all of you and him and he has gone insane, and all of you are complicit.” Her language escalated the standoff from policy disagreement to moral indictment, pushing the argument into calls for removal from office.

After another alarming Trump message saying an entire “civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again,” Greene explicitly urged use of the 25th Amendment. “25TH AMENDMENT!!! Not a single bomb has dropped on America. We cannot kill an entire civilization. This is evil and madness,” she wrote in a on X. The episode leaves Republican voters choosing whether to rally behind Trump’s confrontational style or move toward a different posture represented by Fuller.
