Swedish pop singer Zara Larsson lashed out at the White House after one of her songs was used in a video promoting deportations, calling the people behind it “fucking losers.”
“I’m just sad. I’m just really sad. That, like, really makes me sad to see that,” Larsson said, in video footage posted to Reddit.
Larsson said she wished she could speak directly to whoever made the video. “We’re not that different from the people in this video,” she said.
“The biggest difference between us, is that we were dealt a different hand in life. I consider myself so lucky with the life that I’ve been dealt — the fact that I’m born in Sweden, I have healthcare, I’ve had an education.”
Larsson, who is not American and lives outside the United States, argued that illegal immigrants deserve the chance to build better lives in this country. “There’s people out there who are not that lucky, and they want to have a better life for their families,” she said.
“I just don’t understand how it could be the worst thing in the world to be an undocumented immigrant,” she added. “This video is so dehumanizing.”
The 28-year-old “Midnight Sun” singer didn’t stop there. “I just don’t get it, like, it’s just so fucking uncool,” she said. “It’s just so, like, it’s just giving, I don’t even know, like, you guys are such fucking losers, like, it’s crazy.”
This isn’t the first time Larsson has drawn attention for provocative remarks. Earlier this year, she praised a fan who said she had an abortion after attending one of her concerts, telling the crowd, “I killed the performance and then you killed it after.”
