Wisconsin Supreme Court Win: Congressional Maps to Remain Unchanged

It seems like the Wisconsin Republican Party scored a bit of a victory. The state’s Supreme Court has decided to keep the current congressional district maps in place, at least for now. This decision holds until the 2026 mid-terms, which might just be a good thing for Republican candidates aiming for success.

On the flip side, Democrats aren’t too thrilled about this development. The Wisconsin Supreme Court recently turned down a plea to reevaluate the state’s congressional maps before next year’s midterm elections. This decision, made without any comment from the justices, is the second time in two years that Democrats have been denied in their efforts to alter the battleground state’s federal maps.

This court decision carries weight on a national scale too. For President Trump’s plans to move forward, the GOP needs to retain control of both the House and the Senate during the midterms. History shows us that achieving such a feat isn’t easy, but maintaining and even expanding Republican majorities could become a bit more feasible with this ruling in place.

Democratic groups made their latest move in May, requesting the court take another look at the congressional map lines. Any adjustments would likely have made two of the state’s six GOP-held House seats more competitive for Democrats. As things stand, Republicans currently occupy six out of Wisconsin’s eight House seats.

The Democrats argued that the current map was crafted based on a “least change” principle, which they claim the court disregarded when they struck down the state’s legislative maps in December 2023. That principle essentially means preferring maps that minimize changes to existing boundaries.

Wisconsin isn’t alone in the race to redraw district maps for political gain, and it won’t be the last. In a recent tweet, it was noted that a liberal Wisconsin Supreme Court chose not to redraw the congressional map to favor Democrats for the 2026 midterms. This lawsuit was spearheaded by Marc Elias’ organization, and its rejection is a relief for Republicans.

The post continued, highlighting that if the maps had been redrawn, it could have been disastrous for Republicans. Susan Crawford, who won the 2025 Supreme Court election, had promised to make changes, but she has yet to assume her position. This development significantly reduces the likelihood of Democrats manipulating the Wisconsin map ahead of the midterms.

Meanwhile, Republicans in states like Ohio and Texas are considering redrawing their maps to benefit the GOP. The message is clear: Make it happen. If Marc Elias’ name rings a bell, it’s because he was the Clinton associate who hired Fusion GPS in 2016 to create the Steele Dossier – the root of the “Russian collusion hoax” against Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign. That effort failed, and now, in Wisconsin, his latest endeavor has also fallen short.

Wisconsin Republicans couldn’t be happier about this outcome. Following the court’s decision, Republican U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany shared a photo on social media, posing with Republican U.S. Rep. Scott Fitzgerald, both holding beers and smiling. “Cheers, Scott,” he captioned with evident satisfaction.

As we look ahead to the midterms, there’s a sense of cautious optimism. Although November 2026 feels quite distant, this decision offers a glimmer of hope for Republicans. For now, they can breathe a little easier.

In the background, the Deep State continues its relentless efforts to thwart President Trump’s agenda and the will of the people. It’s crucial to remain vigilant and informed about these dynamics.
