In an unprecedented show of support, over 500 veterans, including former Navy SEALs, Green Berets, and service members from various branches, are converging in Washington, D.C., to back Pete Hegseth’s nomination for Secretary of Defense. The march, organized by prominent veteran leaders, coincides with Hegseth’s Senate confirmation hearings, marking a pivotal moment in his bid for the role.

The march, dubbed the “SEAL March for Pete Hegseth,” is spearheaded by former Navy SEALs Bill “Freak” Brown and Rob Sweetman. Beginning at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at 9 a.m., participants will march to the hearing venue to visibly demonstrate their support. Organizers plan to fill the hearing room and line the surrounding areas, sending a strong message of solidarity with Hegseth.

“The SEAL March for Pete Hegseth and attendance at the hearing demonstrates strong and unwavering support from the warrior class for Pete Hegseth as he moves forward with his confirmation to become Secretary of Defense,” stated a press release for the event.

The rally has garnered significant attention, with Monday’s Meet & Greet event at the Courtyard Washington in D.C.’s Foggy Bottom drawing notable attendees. Among them were Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), Representative Keith Self (R-TX), and a lineup of distinguished Navy SEAL veterans, including Bill Brown, Rob Sweetman, Mitch Aguiar, and Kenny Bigbee.

Former Navy SEAL Kenny Bigbee passionately endorsed Hegseth, emphasizing his service and sacrifice. “Pete Hegseth served and sacrificed overseas, in Iraq and Afghanistan,” Bigbee said. “We’re not politicians. We’re warriors. And Pete Hegseth embodies the values of service and sacrifice needed to lead our military.”

During a press conference, Congressman Derrick Van Orden, also a former Navy SEAL, criticized the Biden administration’s leadership, claiming it is “being run by a bunch of 25-year-olds.” Van Orden didn’t hold back in his assessment of former defense officials, stating, “Lloyd Austin? Travesty. Mark Milley? Forget about it. Pete Hegseth understands one thing: You only take American children to war if you absolutely have to—and when you do, you fight to win.”

The event underscores a broader frustration within the veteran community over what many see as a decline in military leadership and readiness under the previous administration. Senator Tommy Tuberville voiced similar concerns, tying the nation’s military strength to its ability to address domestic challenges.

“You can’t fix inflation, crime, education, or borders without a strong military to protect this country,” Tuberville said. “We’ve had four disastrous years for our military. Pete Hegseth understands camaraderie, teamwork, and respect. We need someone like him to restore our armed forces.”

Tuberville lauded the rally as a demonstration of patriotism and commitment to the nation’s future. “This isn’t just about Pete Hegseth; it’s about what he represents—a return to strong leadership and unwavering dedication to our military,” he added.

Hegseth, a former Army National Guard officer who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, is known for his outspoken views on patriotism, military strength, and leadership. His nomination by President Trump reflects a vision of rebuilding the military with a focus on traditional values and operational effectiveness.

Throughout his career, Hegseth has championed veterans’ issues and criticized the politicization of military institutions. If confirmed, he has pledged to prioritize readiness, morale, and the welfare of service members and their families.

The veteran-led march represents a rare and powerful endorsement of a Defense Secretary nominee. It also highlights the growing divide over the direction of U.S. military policy. Critics argue that Hegseth’s close ties to Trump could polarize the Department of Defense, but supporters believe his leadership is exactly what the military needs to overcome current challenges.

The march and subsequent hearings are expected to draw significant media attention, as the outcome of Hegseth’s confirmation could signal a major shift in military strategy under the Trump administration.

As the Senate Armed Services Committee begins its evaluation of Pete Hegseth, the voices of 500+ veterans will echo loudly in the halls of Congress. Their march is not just a display of support but a testament to their belief in Hegseth’s ability to lead the Department of Defense into a new era.

Whether this unprecedented show of solidarity will sway the confirmation process remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: the veteran community stands united in its demand for strong, principled leadership at the helm of the nation’s military.
