In a move aimed at trolling Vice President Kamala Harris, former President Donald Trump made good on his promise to work at a McDonald’s over the weekend, poking fun at Harris’s past claim that she once worked “doing fries” at the fast-food chain. On Sunday, Trump made a surprise appearance at a McDonald’s in Feasterville-Trevose, located in Bucks County, Pennsylvania—a key swing county just northeast of Philadelphia.

Harris, in previous interviews, has mentioned working at McDonald’s during her younger years, but no evidence has surfaced to support the claim. Even fact-checking site Snopes reported they could not find any proof of her employment at the fast-food giant. Despite this, the media has focused on Trump’s jab, with some outlets criticizing him for questioning Harris’s past work experience without providing evidence to back up his claim. The Associated Press even ran a headline that read, “Trump Visiting McDonald’s While Offering No Evidence for Saying Harris Didn’t Work There in College.”

The media’s reaction has sparked frustration among Trump supporters, who point out that Harris herself has yet to offer any proof of her McDonald’s employment. Many see this focus on Trump’s claim as a deflection from Harris’s lack of evidence. “It’s absurd that he needs to prove she didn’t work there when she hasn’t shown any proof that she did,” one supporter said, echoing sentiments that the media’s scrutiny of Trump is often overblown.

Trump’s visit to the McDonald’s was nothing short of a spectacle. Police closed down nearby streets, and crowds of supporters gathered across the street, some stretching several blocks, eager to catch a glimpse of the former president. The excitement was palpable as people honked horns, waved flags, and held up signs, celebrating Trump’s appearance. Music blared from cars, and many in the crowd snapped photos and cheered as Trump took up the role of a McDonald’s employee, working the fries and even the drive-thru window.

For Trump, the visit wasn’t just about a playful jab at Harris; it was also an opportunity to connect with voters in a critical battleground county. Bucks County, which is known for swinging between Democratic and Republican candidates in past elections, was the perfect backdrop for Trump’s fast-food foray. His supporters saw the visit as more than just a publicity stunt—many felt it showed his down-to-earth connection with working-class voters, an image that has played a crucial role in his political success.

While the media may have focused on the feud between Trump and Harris over her past employment, the scene at McDonald’s was a testament to Trump’s continued popularity among his base. Supporters saw his McDonald’s shift as a lighthearted yet powerful symbol of his campaign style—blending humor, spectacle, and a populist message.

He got there, and then he suited up.

He was asked what was his favorite thing to order. He professed to liking it all, but had a particular fondness for the fries, the area where he was going to work.

Then they put him right to work on the spuds, with the hot oil.

Then he filled up the containers of fries and bagged up the orders. He complimented his trainers for helping him out and said they did a good job teaching him.

Then he moved to the drive-thru, complimented a “good-looking family,” and said he would be paying for it because he made it himself.

People loved him.

One woman asked him to help keep the U.S. from becoming like her native Brazil.

He assured her he would prevent that, “We’ll keep it good, we’re going to make it better than ever.”

Trump said it was a great franchise and they had been very nice to him. He pointed out how this was charging up the crowd and he said, “Now I’ve worked 15 minutes longer than Kamala.’

The crowd roared when he waved from the window.

Trump is on from there to an evening town hall in Lancaster before attending the Pittsburgh Steelers home game against the New York Jets.
