President Donald Trump brought rapper Nicki Minaj on stage with him Sunday at a packed rally in Detroit, Michigan, as he makes a final push for voters to back Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers over Democrat Abdul El Sayed.

Minaj, who has become one of Trump’s most visible celebrity supporters, released a statement ahead of the rally saying, “This midterm election is the most important of our lifetimes. We need to make sure President Trump has a strong, effective team in Congress for his final two years in office so he can continue delivering transformative programs like Trump Accounts, which I am proud to support.”

Minaj has repeatedly appeared alongside Trump and was a central figure in the rollout of his Trump Accounts program, a $1,000 tax-advantaged savings initiative for American children. In January, she told a Trump Accounts summit crowd, “I am probably the president’s number one fan, and that’s not going to change.”

“The hate, or what people have to say, it does not affect me at all. It actually motivates me to support him more. And it’s going to motivate all of us to support him more. We’re not going to let them get away with bullying him, and the smear campaigns, it’s not going to work.”

Trump has praised Minaj in kind, calling her the “greatest female rapper in history” earlier this year. At Sunday’s rally, Minaj helped energize the crowd, prompting Trump to tell attendees, “We love Nicki.” She also shared video of herself aboard Air Force One.

Trump has used the final days before the vote to attack El Sayed directly. In a recent Truth Social post, he wrote that he was traveling to Michigan to “fight a Jihadist Member of the Muslim Brotherhood,” referring to El Sayed, who is Muslim.

The Detroit rally comes as Trump pushes voters in Wayne County and across Michigan to turn out for Rogers in a race he has framed as critical to holding a working majority in Congress for the remainder of his term.
