In a speech at the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department, ex-President Donald Trump introduced a set of stringent crime-related measures.
These include advocating for the death penalty for child rapists, imposing felonies on doctors conducting transgender surgeries on minors without parental consent, and endorsing a revival of the contentious “stop and frisk” policing tactic.
“I am announcing today that I will be asking for the death penalty for child rapists and child traffickers,” Trump declared to an audience of law enforcement officials.

During a wider conversation about crime, the former president presented himself as a strong advocate for law and order when he made these comments.
Trump not only emphasized his support for capital punishment in specific cases but also highlighted the importance of safeguarding minors from what he referred to as “sexual mutilation.”

He suggested harsh consequences for medical professionals who perform transgender surgeries on minors without the explicit authorization of their parents.
“To protect our children from sexual mutilation, we will make it a felony for any medical professional to perform surgery on a minor without parental consent,” Trump stated.
Trump, vying for the Republican nomination for president in 2024, has also voiced support for the revival of “stop and frisk” policing, a contentious practice condemned by civil rights organizations for promoting racial profiling.
Despite its polarizing reputation, Trump contends that the policy is crucial for combating unlawful behavior.
“We will aggressively prosecute dangerous criminals who violate existing gun laws — including by returning to ‘Stop and Frisk,’” he said.
The speech featured strong disapproval of Vice President Kamala Harris, with Trump alleging that she backs policies that weaken public safety.
“Kamala Harris will deliver crime, chaos, destruction and death,” Trump asserted, drawing a stark contrast between his vision for the country and that of the current administration. “I will deliver law, order, safety, and peace. And I will protect those who protect us,” he added.
Trump’s speech in Michigan emphasized his commitment to strengthening law enforcement should he be re-elected.
The former president pledged to boost resources for law enforcement agencies across the country, as he stood before three Livingston County Sheriff’s Department SUVs.
“Under my leadership, we will make a record investment in hiring, retention, and training for police officers,” Trump said.
During his speech, Trump focused on Vice President Harris, repeatedly alleging that she is spearheading an “anti-police crusade.” He portrayed her law enforcement approach as a component of a larger “extremist, pro-crime, anti-police” agenda.

These remarks reflect the former president’s ongoing campaign to position a potential 2024 run as a return to more stringent law enforcement measures.
Trump’s stop in Howell is just one of many appearances he has made nationwide to outline his policy agenda as he vies for the GOP nomination.
His emphasis on crime in his Tuesday address is part of a broader effort to appeal to voters worried about public safety, especially in light of recent national discussions on policing and criminal justice reform.
The former president’s ideas are likely to rally his supporters, particularly those who prioritize tough law enforcement policies. However, they are also anticipated to face significant criticism from opponents who contend that such actions could lead to further injustices, especially in minority communities.
This wasn’t the first instance where Trump has called for the death penalty for human traffickers.
