Former President Donald Trump, the GOP’s 2024 presidential nominee, announced plans to take a firm stance against the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) efforts to purchase American farmland.

In an exclusive interview with Breitbart News on Sunday, Trump highlighted the importance of maintaining control over the nation’s resources and economy, which he believes are being undermined by foreign influence, particularly from China.

“We must have control of our land, our economy, and our borders,” Trump said during the nearly hour-long interview. “These so-called leaders we have are allowing our country to be sold right out from under us. We need to be very careful and prudent, and we can’t let this continue. Do you think China would allow us to buy their land and do what they’re doing here? Absolutely not.”

The growing concern over China and CCP-affiliated entities purchasing land across the United States, especially near military bases, has been a hot topic for years.

This issue was thrust into the spotlight during the Chinese spy balloon incident earlier this year. The balloon was first detected over Montana and traveled across the country before being shot down off the coast of South Carolina.

Critics argue that the Biden administration, including Vice President Kamala Harris, did too little to prevent the surveillance balloon from covering the entire U.S. mainland.

Prominent Republican leaders, including Trump’s running mate, Senator JD Vance (R-OH), and Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR), have been sounding the alarm about China’s increasing land acquisitions and influence in critical sectors for years.

Trump emphasized that, if re-elected, his administration would implement stringent regulations to prevent Chinese entities from acquiring American farmland or gaining control over industries like telecommunications.

“I’ve always been firm on protecting our telecommunications sector and blocking foreign entities from gaining control,” Trump said. “We need to do the same with our farmland. We will be very firm on this.”

On Monday, Trump is set to appear in Western Pennsylvania alongside former Congressman Lee Zeldin (R-NY) and former acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell at an event organized by the Protecting America Initiative.

The event will focus on preventing the CCP from acquiring U.S. land, a move Trump describes as crucial for national security.

According to Breitbart, Grenell warned of the “growing strategy that Communist China has inside America,” while Zeldin has stressed the threat the CCP poses to the U.S. food supply.

In contrast, Trump criticized Vice President Kamala Harris, arguing that she lacks the ability to confront world leaders like Chinese President Xi Jinping on these critical issues.

When asked if Harris could hold her own in a conversation with Xi, Trump replied, “No, not even on the most basic level. She can’t answer a question from Oprah Winfrey.”

Trump’s comments underscore his commitment to safeguarding American land and industries from foreign influence, a central theme of his campaign as he seeks a second term in office.
