Travis Kelce moved into second place all-time in receiving yards by a tight end during the Kansas City Chiefs’ Monday night win over the Denver Broncos, and the crowd reaction included his wife, Taylor Swift, jumping up and down in his suite at Arrowhead Stadium.
The milestone came on a 59-yard catch in the third quarter. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes found Kelce, who slipped a tackle and picked up a big chunk of running room before being brought down at the 5-yard line. Before that play, Kelce had caught just one pass for six yards on the night.
A six-yard catch in the fourth quarter pushed Kelce’s career total to 13,073 receiving yards, passing former Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten, who finished his career with 13,046. Kelce now trails only former Chiefs tight end Tony Gonzalez, who retired with 15,127 career receiving yards, on the all-time list at his position.
The “Monday Night Football” broadcast cut to Kelce’s box as the milestone happened. Swift was there along with Kelce’s brother, Jason Kelce, and his mother, Donna Kelce, all celebrating together.
Monday marked the first Chiefs game Swift attended since she and Travis Kelce married in July at Madison Square Garden. The Chiefs won 31-10. Running back Kenneth Walker III had 173 rushing yards and a touchdown in his Chiefs debut, adding another 18 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown.
A Night of Crossover Attention
Swift’s appearance at the game wasn’t her only moment in the spotlight Monday. She was seen sitting next to actor Tom Cruise earlier in the day, and she also made a cameo in a pre-recorded sketch for the Emmys broadcast on NBC, which included several references to Kelce.
Kelce and Swift’s relationship has drawn national attention since it became public, pairing one of the NFL’s biggest stars with one of the most recognized musicians in the country.
