A report by Stephen M. Lepore on Dailymail.com highlights a sexual harassment scandal involving Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, casting a shadow on his prospects as a potential Vice Presidential candidate under Democratic nominee Kamala Harris.
As the election nears, Harris is carefully evaluating candidates for the VP role, particularly governors from swing states who could bolster her campaign.
Shapiro has been considered a significant figure among these governors.
The controversy surrounding Shapiro intensified when Pennsylvania Democrat Erin McClelland accused him of concealing the truth.
McClelland, a candidate for state treasurer, publicly announced her endorsement of North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper on Tuesday evening, stating that Harris’ preferred running mate should be someone who is more proactive in addressing serious issues such as sexual harassment, rather than turning a blind eye to them.
LOOK:
I want a VP pick that’s secure enough to be second under a woman, is content to be VP & won’t undermine the President to maneuver his own election & doesn’t sweep sexual harassment under the rug. I want someone that can speak to rural voters. That is @RoyCooperNC

Shapiro faced allegations following a settlement made by his office with a woman who accused his longtime ally, legislative liaison Mike Vereb, of sexual harassment in 2023.
Various political figures, including Senate President Pro Tempore Kim Ward and Pennsylvania Democratic Party Chairman Sharif Street, disapproved of Shapiro’s handling of the situation.
Despite the scandal, Shapiro continues to support Harris, highlighting their shared history and commitment to the rule of law.
He has pledged to assist Harris in her campaign, although it remains unclear whether a vice presidential position under Harris is still an option for him.
