Earlier this month, it was revealed that illegal border crossings in Eagle Pass had decreased by 76 percent since Governor Abbott implemented stricter measures.
The CBP reported a significant drop in apprehensions from over 71,000 in December 2023 to just over 16,700 in January, marking a substantial decrease within a one-month period.
NEW: More data on how significant the drop in illegal crossings in Texas' Del Rio sector (Eagle Pass) has been since TX locked it down and MX increased their enforcement.

Governor Abbott took control of Shelby Park property in January to disrupt the influx of unauthorized immigrants.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Attorney General Ken Paxton pledged to resist the Supreme Court’s decision regarding razor wire on the southern border.
“The Supreme Court’s temporary order allows Biden to continue his illegal effort to aid the foreign invasion of America. The destruction of Texas’s border barriers will not help enforce the law or keep American citizens safe. This fight is not over, and I look forward to defending our state’s sovereignty.” Ken Paxton said last month.
After the US Supreme Court supported the Biden administration’s decision to cut and remove razor wire, Texas countered by opting to install additional razor wire.

Liberty One News reporter Erica Carlin spoke to an Eagle Pass resident who was clearly frustrated with the Biden adminstration’s handling of the border crisis.
“As a lifelong Texan, it infuriates me to see the negative impact that illegal immigration has had on our southern border with Mexico. The flood of illegal aliens crossing over into our state not only undermines our laws and sovereignty but also places a tremendous burden on our resources and communities.”
One of the most frustrating aspects of this situation for border residents is the fact that many illegal immigrants come solely to take advantage of social programs meant for American citizens.
“These individuals have no respect for our country’s laws or values, they simply see America as a land of opportunity where they can access welfare benefits, healthcare, and education without contributing anything in return” said Edina Gonzalez.
“The strain on our social services caused by illegal immigration is unacceptable. Our schools are overcrowded with children who do not speak English, putting additional pressure on teachers and diminishing the quality of education for all students. Our hospitals are overwhelmed with uninsured patients seeking free medical care, leading to longer wait times and higher costs for everyone else. And our welfare system is being exploited by those who have no intention of ever becoming productive members of society.”
The presence of illegal immigrants also poses a serious public safety risk to Texans. Criminal organizations use the porous border as a gateway to smuggle drugs, weapons, and human trafficking victims into our communities.
Law enforcement agencies are stretched thin trying to combat these threats while also dealing with an influx of undocumented individuals who often engage in criminal activity themselves.
The economic impact of illegal immigration cannot be ignored either. Many Texans have lost job opportunities or seen their wages depressed due to competition from cheap labor provided by undocumented workers.
This unfair competition hurts hardworking Americans who are struggling to make ends meet and provide for their families.
More than 11 million undocumented individuals have entered the United States due to President Biden’s lenient border policies.
