House Judiciary Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan, a member of the Republican party representing Ohio, has taken action to investigate the United Nations’ involvement in what he perceives as the Biden administration’s facilitation of illegal immigration into the United States.
According to a report by the Daily Caller News Foundation, Jordan sent letters to both the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the International Organization for Migration, seeking detailed information about their roles in aiding what he views as “unlawful” pathways for illegal aliens to enter the country.
The letters obtained by the DCNF conveyed that the House Judiciary Committee is actively monitoring and supervising the Biden administration’s enforcement of immigration laws.
They emphasized Jordan’s concerns about what he sees as an expansion of unauthorized methods to expedite even more arrivals into the country, despite an ongoing border crisis and widespread release of illegal aliens by the administration.
Specifically, Jordan requested comprehensive information from the U.N. regarding its collaboration with the Biden administration, particularly related to the U.S. State Department’s Safe Mobility Offices initiative.
He pointed out that this program was purportedly designed by UNHCR to mitigate risks associated with onward movement and fast-track aliens into the U.S., away from public scrutiny and without transparency regarding border chaos.
Jordan also highlighted that in addition to expanding traditional refugee admissions, these Safe Mobility Offices offer various options for resettlement in America, such as through family reunification, labor pathways, and what he described as unlawful exploitation of humanitarian parole by Biden’s administration.
According to Jordan’s letters, this initiative had reportedly reached 170,000 individuals by mid-April 2021.
The State Department’s website describes it as one of several measures aimed at offering safe and legal channels from partner countries without financial burden on refugees or vulnerable migrants.
Additionally, Jordan asserted that UNHCR is responsible for outreach in several countries like Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Ecuador to engage potential candidates for registration on its website under this program.
He criticized this collaborative effort between UNHCR and US authorities as a means to facilitate greater arrival of aliens while being funded by American taxpayers.
Furthermore, Jordan raised concerns about IOM’s active promotion of this program and its role in disseminating information among aliens on traveling options to reach the United States.
The letters highlighted that since 2021 alone, American taxpayers have contributed over $6.3 billion towards UNHCR.
In light of these concerns and allegations, Jordan requested extensive documentation from both organizations including their communications with the Biden administration regarding Safe Mobility Offices along with details about funding allocated for this initiative.
Despite these serious inquiries from House Judiciary Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan’s office via Daily Caller News Foundation (DCNF), neither UNHCR nor IOM responded to requests for comment at that time.
These actions taken by Rep. Jim Jordan reflect a broader concern within certain political circles about perceived leniency in immigration policies under President Biden’s administration and raise questions about international organizations’ involvement in facilitating entry for undocumented migrants into America.
