Senator Cory Booker and Alexis Lewis quietly tied the knot in a pair of ceremonies that blended family, faith, and a storybook meeting. The couple completed a legal ceremony in Newark and later celebrated with family in Washington, D.C., then shared a short note of thanks on social media. Their relationship began with a well-timed blind date and a follow-up that turned into something lasting. Alexis brings a finance background and advanced education to the partnership, and the couple marked the milestone with an interfaith ceremony.

The news arrived with a personal message saying they were “overflowing with gratitude,” a simple line that framed the private weekend. Booker and Lewis first completed the legal step at the federal courthouse in Newark with only their parents present, keeping the earliest moment intimate and low-key. The couple then held a family celebration in Washington, D.C., honoring both of their roots and the people closest to them.

The ceremony itself was interfaith, reflecting Booker’s Christian background and Lewis’s Jewish heritage, and it took place at an undisclosed venue. That choice underscored a focus on family and faith rather than a public spectacle, which is notable for a sitting senator. Privacy mattered to them, and their plans prioritized loved ones and tradition over headlines.

Booker later posted a fuller message that captured where they said their vows: “We said ‘I do’ in two places that shaped us—Cory’s beloved Newark and Alexis’s hometown of Washington, D.C.—first at the courthouse, then with our families. Hearts full and so grateful.” The post highlighted the two cities that shaped their lives and the different moments that made the weekend meaningful. It was a straightforward update, offered with clear gratitude and no pageantry.

The couple’s meeting has an almost cinematic start: a blind date arranged by a mutual friend in May 2024 that turned into a marathon first date. That first meeting in Washington lasted more than five hours, a sign they had real chemistry from the beginning. When Booker asked for a second date the next night, Lewis had a work flight to Newark, and she agreed to adjust her plans so they could keep talking.

Booker has described that second outing as “even more magical,” a phrase that hints at how fast things progressed. They shared dinner at a tapas spot, and he walked her through parts of the city that mattered to him, opening up about the places that shaped his life. The night ended with their first kiss outside the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart, a small, private moment that clearly meant a lot.

Alexis Lewis is a director of investments at Brasa Capital Management, a Los Angeles-based real estate investment firm, and she has held roles in public service as well. Her resume includes time working for the former mayor of Los Angeles, and she brings both financial and civic experience to the partnership. Lewis earned her bachelor’s degree at NYU and later completed an MBA at Cornell, credentials that match the high-profile world she moves in.

She framed a pivotal decision with a line that speaks to both spontaneity and fate: “My girlfriends and I say, ‘Change your flight, change your life,’ because it’s exactly what happened.” That quip captured how a small, practical choice — shifting a travel plan — became the hinge on which everything turned. For them, a delayed flight led to a second date and, eventually, a marriage.

“After so many years on my own, I’m not entirely sure I believed I would get married. But now, we’ve found each other at this stage of our lives, after epic personal journeys. And that deserves celebration.” Those words convey what many people in later chapters of life feel: surprise, relief, and joy when a real connection arrives. The honesty there is plain and relatable, and it helps explain why they chose both quiet courthouse formalities and a family ceremony.

This union will be watched by people who know Booker as a public figure, but the couple’s approach was intentionally private and personal, not performative. From a conservative perspective the combination of family focus, faith blending, and respect for privacy resonates—this was about two people choosing to honor their families and their beliefs. No grand political statement was made; instead, they quietly built a life milestone around values that matter to many Americans.
