Actress Selma Blair was arrested Sunday after allegedly attacking two Delta flight attendants during a flight from Los Angeles to New York, according to reports.

The 54-year-old Hellboy star allegedly punched one flight attendant and bit another while attempting to open the plane’s door in midair, Variety reported. Two flight attendants were injured, and one was taken to the hospital.

Police were waiting on the tarmac at John F. Kennedy Airport when the flight landed and boarded the plane to take Blair into custody. Dispatch recordings reviewed by People magazine show police requesting medical personnel meet the aircraft upon arrival. Despite the incident, the flight continued without further issue and landed on schedule at 11 p.m.

A spokesperson for Blair said the actress suffered a medical episode that led to her behavior.

“Selma experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct. Upon landing, she received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition,” the spokesperson said.

Delta issued a statement emphasizing its policy toward passengers who endanger crew and other travelers.

“Delta has zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behavior, as the safety of our customers and crew always comes first,” the airline said.

The FBI confirmed it is aware of the incident. Federal law places jurisdiction over assaults aboard aircraft with the bureau.

“The FBI is responsible for investigating all assaults aboard aircraft. Yesterday, we were informed by our partners at Port Authority Police Department of a potential assault aboard a flight that arrived into JFK. As per long-standing DOJ policy, we do not comment on ongoing investigations,” an FBI spokesperson said.

Blair, who starred in Cruel Intentions and was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2018, was previously removed from a flight in 2016 following a disturbance on a trip from Cancun, Mexico, to Los Angeles. At the time, she said the incident stemmed from an accidental interaction between her medication and alcohol that caused her to black out.
