A wave of antisemitism controversies broke out this week, ranging from a racially charged slur against a top House Democrat to a rapper’s pro-Palestinian stage protest and a botched attempt by liberal podcasters to define a centuries-old antisemitic trope.
Anti-Israel journalist Rula Jebreal set off the fiercest backlash after calling House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries an “AIPAC monkey” during a podcast appearance. “He is a bought and paid by AIPAC monkey. With all due respect — and I don’t mean it in a racist way. He is just basically an errand boy, and we’re done and tired,” Jebreal said.
The Congressional Black Caucus and other Democrats condemned the remark as racist. Jebreal later issued a public apology on X, but critics dismissed it as a hollow, defensive afterthought.
Macklemore’s MetLife Stadium Protest
Actor Michael Rapaport blasted rapper Macklemore as a “talentless clown” after Macklemore chanted “Free Palestine” and performed his protest track “Hind’s Hall” while opening for Ed Sheeran at MetLife Stadium.
