For more than 17 months Americans have watched as the media, politicians, and former intelligence officials claimed that the Hunter Biden laptop story was a sham. In that famous letter, more than 50 former national-security and intelligence officials polished their gleaming credentials and alleged that the New York Post was guilty of peddling a story that had “all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.”
But according to Juan freaking Williams, “nobody said it wasn’t true”.
So, is Williams saying that they knew it was true but refused to cover it? Worse still, is Williams admitting that the left intentionally mislead voters to sway the 2020 elections?
Take a look at an argument Williams had with Howard Kurtz on the Mile Gallagher show and let me know:
WILLIAMS: No, but I think there’s a larger context here, which is that what was this about? What does it prove? Nobody said it wasn’t true. That — what was said was that you can’t authenticate it. And then you had certain publications that said, we have authenticated it.
GALLAGHER: The analysts said it wasn’t true. The analysts, the intel analysts said they didn’t — couldn’t prove it. It sure looked like Russian disinformation.
WILLIAMS: Right, couldn’t prove it was the key point for organizations.
Couldn’t authenticate it? This is a pretty strange standard for liberals and their Big Tech friends who never stopped Brett Kavanaugh’s accusers from making unsubstantiated claims of teenage rape in 2018. The main accuser was lionized.
Then Howard Kurtz offered a rebuttal:
KURTZ: Juan, it is an absolute embarrassment that the way that the media downplayed or ignored or mocked or minimized this story, that The New York Times now says is under active federal investigation for possible tax violations or lobbying violations by the president’s son. And they’re still not covering it. None of the other networks have touched this story.
It doesn’t — you know, it doesn’t mean that Hunter Biden’s going to be indicted. It may or may not have political fallout for his father. But when you look back at the way Facebook — Twitter, for example, said, well, you can’t even share this information then from the New York Post.”
WILLIAMS: But Howie — Howie, this was in the middle of a heated political campaign intended to damage one candidate in the aftermath of Russian disinformation. I think we were all properly cautious.
KURTZ: It was censorship.
Even the WallStreeJournal slammed the officials who buried the investigation with that letter:
“Now we can guess why so much U.S. intelligence has been so faulty all these years. Either these 50 or so grandmasters of international espionage are completely unable to distinguish Russian disinformation from real information, or they prostituted their credentials in a naked act of political hackery. I don’t have their experience or deductive skills, but I’m ready to go with the latter.”
I agree. Political prostitutes… All of them.
