Rob Gronkowski’s induction into the New England Patriots Hall of Fame on Saturday outside Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, turned uncomfortable when former teammate Niko Koutouvides took the podium and told a graphic story involving adult toys and the late Aaron Hernandez.

Koutouvides opened with a warning: “I’m going to ask all children here, whatever you hear, do not ask any questions after this, OK?”

He then described an exchange from 2011 training camp. “So Rob goes, ‘I just got the Jenna Jameson adult toy’, and for those who don’t know, Jenna Jameson, she was like an Oscar-winning actress, OK. ‘And this thing was awful, I got ripped off,'” Koutouvides said. Jameson is an adult film actress. Gronkowski put his head in his hands as the story continued.

Koutouvides said Hernandez then jumped in. “So hold on, it gets a lot better than this guys. So then Aaron rebuttals, ‘Oh, I got a whole package in college,’ and started to go through the description of each procedure you needed to take in order to be successful,” he said. “And it included microwaves and oils and all types of stuff. So I’m going into my eighth year in the league, they’re just getting off their two phenomenal rookie seasons, they’re going into Year Two. Remember, this is his phenomenal second year.”

Koutouvides said he questioned why Gronkowski had brought the item to a training camp that would run two and a half weeks. “And I’m like, ‘do I interject in this conversation?’ and I just couldn’t stay out of it. And I raised my hand and said ‘can I communicate something with the two of you? Why are we talking about something that’s prosthetic, right? Outside that door when we get out in two and a half weeks, is everything we want outside that door!'” he said. “And they both look at me and they go ‘you’ve got a good explanation Niko but, more importantly, those two and a half weeks feel like three and a half years.’ And I said ‘we’re gonna have a great experience, the three of us,’ and the rest is history from there.”

Gronkowski cut the moment short as soon as Koutouvides wrapped up. “Thank you very much, you’re done,” he said.

The reaction online was swift and largely negative. “A player that nobody knows goes up there and talks about Aaron Hernandez and an adult film star while being completely disjointed in telling an uninteresting story. Why was he speaking?” one user wrote on X. Another called it “horrendous.” A third wrote: “2 things….what was that speech….and why was Koutivides there?” and another added, “Fun fact – not many people even knew who he was.”

Koutouvides played linebacker for the Patriots and was a teammate of both Gronkowski and Hernandez during the period he described. The induction ceremony, held at the team’s home stadium in Norfolk County, was meant to honor Gronkowski’s career with the franchise.
