A 37-year-old Morgan Hill man is behind bars after allegedly killing his wife and leaving their three young children home alone before driving her body to a San Jose hospital and confessing.
Roy Anthony Lopez arrived at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose around 9:20 a.m. Saturday and told staff he had killed his wife. Hospital employees went out to his car and found the woman severely injured.
“First responders located an adult female victim inside a vehicle parked at the hospital. Paramedics provided immediate emergency medical care, but the victim succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene,” the Morgan Hill Police Department said.
San Jose police officers detained Lopez without incident and held him until Morgan Hill officers arrived to take custody. He was transported to Morgan Hill for questioning and later booked into Santa Clara County Jail on a murder charge under Penal Code section 187(a).
Investigators traced the crime to a home in the 1100 block of Vintage Lane in Morgan Hill. There, police found three children — ages 14, 6 and 3 — who had been left alone. The children were taken to the Morgan Hill Police Department and then released into the custody of the Santa Clara County Department of Family and Children’s Services.
