The coverage about a brutal attack of a Minneapolis woman has been very sparse. Now, we’re learning why. A Muslim migrant attacked her.
Morgan Evenson, 26, was attacked on December 13. She was walking home from her job at the Apple Store. She felt a man following close behind her. When she turned around to get a look at him, he charged at her. They struggled for several minutes as the man repeatedly stabbed her.
Evenson considers herself lucky to be alive.
She recounts:
It was horrifying because I could feel something that felt like it was stinging me, but it was him stabbing me. Doctor’s told me I had 14 wounds that needed stitches, including a lacerated kidney.
I cannot imagine anyone attacking someone like that and as a woman, it is especially frightening, but I knew I had to fight back and I want him to know I am OK and that he will be caught.
Neighbors and passersby heard Evenson screaming and struggling, and they rushed to her aid. The attacker escaped, but the victim is now doing everything to make sure the attacker is caught.
It is only in the video that we figure out the man’s identity. He is a short, Somali man that was in jeans and an army green jacket. Elsewhere, it’s difficult to find the attacker’s identity. Super useful, especially when you’re trying to catch a fugitive.
Even worse, not all the local papers have picked up the story. Others have not even mentioned the attacker’s identity. It’s apparent the media does not want the residents of Minneapolis thinking the recent influx of Muslim migrants was a bad idea.
These outlets need to take their responsibility to report the news more seriously. When Muslim migrants receive no repercussions, it only makes them bolder. The violence echoes what one of their leaders said a few months ago.
Hats off to Morgan Evenson, though. The woman said all she wanted was to be brave. Now, she wants to make sure the attacker is caught so that others know this is not okay.
