Twin brothers Chad and James Hampton, both pastors in Michigan, say hunting is more than a pastime—it’s a direct expression of scripture. The two founded Huntin’ the Truth Ministries and point to Genesis 1:26 as the foundation of their outlook on the outdoors.
Speaking with FOX News, Chad Hampton said, “We know that God’s given us that food to manage and also consume so that we can be what He’s created us to be.” He added, “We’re managing God’s creation that He gave to us.”
The brothers cite Genesis 1:26 directly: “Then God said, ‘Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.'” (NIV)
Huntin’ the Truth Ministries describes its purpose as using the outdoors to build and restore relationships with Jesus Christ. According to the ministry’s website, “Our mission is to create and restore relationships with Jesus Christ through hunting and the outdoors.” The group says it has expanded nationally through guided hunts for physically challenged men, men in general, and youths who lack a father figure or someone willing to take them hunting. The ministry also says it has helped other organizations build their own hunting and outdoor ministries.
Chad and James Hampton both graduated from Rochester Christian University and currently pastor churches in Michigan.
