Texas Republican Rep. Mark Green recently called out Department of Homeland Security Sec. Alejandro Mayorkas on CNN’s “State of the Union”.
Green took issue with Mayorkas arguing that the Biden Administration’s work is responsible for a decrease in border crossings.
Green argued that Mayorkas failed to mention that, this week, the border has seen more crossings than any other week in our history.
He also mentioned that, while there was anticipation that the Title 42 policy would expire, a federal judge in Florida blocked the Biden Administration’s plan to release thousands of migrants into the U.S. without court dates or the ability to track them just hours before Title 42 was set to expire.
“What the Secretary failed to say is that this week has seen more crossings than any week in our history. Yes, there was some anticipation, and so people started coming across at higher numbers.
In fact, record-breaking numbers at the first part of the week, but in the latter part of the week, a judge ruled that they can’t do their plan of just releasing without a court date, which Secretary Mayorkas has said on the news was a bad idea.
But that court ruling said he can’t do that. The drug cartels have responded and the numbers have fallen off for a couple of days. But he admitted, just moments ago, that they can’t predict the peak,” Green said.
The Biden Administration is trying to paint a rosy picture of the situation at the southern border, but the truth is, it’s a crisis.
The influx of illegal immigrants is overloading border facilities and is putting a strain on our resources.
The Biden administration has removed the “Remain in Mexico” policy, re-instated catch-and-release, and is offering incentives for illegal immigrants to cross the border.
It’s clear that the Biden Administration is willfully ignoring the reality at the border. The administration is putting out false information, and they are doing nothing to stop the flow of illegal immigration.
This crisis is real and it needs to be addressed.
We need strong leadership to combat the influx of illegal immigrants. We need to build a wall, enforce the laws on the books, and end the magnets that are encouraging illegal immigration.
We need to send a clear message that illegal immigration will not be tolerated.
The current approach of the Biden Administration is not working. Illegal immigration is spiraling out of control and it’s time for the Administration to take action. We need to secure our borders and ensure the safety of our citizens.
The Biden Administration needs to be held accountable and must take responsibility for the crisis at the southern border.
