Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) chastised Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) on Thursday for opposing House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy’s campaign for speaker.

“I’m not sure how Lauren Boebert on one hand can demand so much out of Kevin McCarthy, but then demand nothing out of someone else and be willing to vote for them to be speaker,” Greene told CNN. “That’s not serious, I don’t think that’s leadership, and I really see it as more obstruction.”

In a historic move, the speaker-election process has gone through ten rounds of voting without a single candidate reaching the 218 votes needed to win the speakership role. Representative Lauren Boebert of Colorado has said that nothing Representative Kevin McCarthy can do will win her over because she does not trust him.

Representative Kevin Herd of Oklahoma, the chairman of the Republican Study Committee, was nominated by Boebert during the ninth round of voting, and received a total of three votes. Herd has supported McCarthy throughout the voting process, but has not excluded the possibility of his own bid for the speakership position.

The vote count has been stalled by a group of twenty GOP holdouts, making this the first time in 164 years that the speaker-election process has gone beyond nine rounds. Each round of voting has seen the same results, with no candidate reaching the required 218 votes. This has been a long and arduous process, and it is still unclear who will be the next speaker of the House of Representatives.

The speaker-election process is a pivotal moment in the history of the House of Representatives. It is a chance for all members of the House to make their voices heard and influence the decision-making process. It is unclear what will happen next, but it is certain that all eyes are on the speaker-election process.
