A man has died after entering a tiger enclosure at Yorkshire Wildlife Park near Doncaster, South Yorkshire Police confirmed.

Police said they were called at 13:35 BST to reports that a man had entered the tiger enclosure at the attraction. The tiger attacked him, and he died at the scene, the force said.

His family has been informed and is being supported by officers, police added.

The man has not been publicly identified.

A spokesperson for the park said: “We are deeply saddened by today’s tragic incident. Our thoughts and heartfelt sympathies are with the family and loved ones of the person who has lost their life.”

“We are working closely with the police and relevant authorities and would ask that the privacy of those affected is respected at this extremely difficult time,” the statement continued. “The park will remain closed tomorrow.”

Footage of the incident circulated online in the hours afterward. South Yorkshire Police asked the public not to share it.

No further details about how or why the man entered the enclosure have been released by police or the park.
