Bibb County deputies have arrested two men in a Macon shooting that left 12 people injured, and one of them had pending charges from a 2023 shooting that never kept him off the street.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office identified the suspects as 24-year-old David Vincent Pitts and 20-year-old Jaquez Bailey. Pitts faces 12 counts of aggravated assault and party to a crime. Bailey faces 12 counts of aggravated assault.

This is not Pitts’s first arrest for shooting people. WGXA reported that Pitts was previously taken into custody for a July 11, 2023 “double shooting” at the Baymont Inn & Suites that wounded a 62-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man. Both victims were later listed in stable condition. On July 24, 2023, deputies identified Pitts as a suspect after searching the hotel and turning up multiple firearms, one of them reported stolen.

In that earlier case, Bibb County authorities charged Pitts with two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of reckless conduct, and two counts of possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a felony.

Those charges were still pending when Pitts was arrested again in the latest Macon shooting that injured 12 people. The current status of the 2023 case and court proceedings has not been independently confirmed.

All charges listed are allegations. Pitts and Bailey are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
