It’s no secret that former President Donald Trump had his fair share of critics, but he was certainly justified in his decision to invite Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., onto his leadership team in the important battleground state. Graham made it clear during his speech Saturday that aired live, delivering a fiery defense of Trump and his policies that Democrats have been trying to get rid of.
Graham spoke passionately about how Trump had been able to accomplish what every other president before him had failed to do. He noted that NATO nations had been willing to give $400 billion only because they were afraid to say no to Trump, and that Mexico had eventually agreed to a deal because they were scared of his ability to take on China. He also highlighted the Abraham Accords, saying it was only because of Trump’s strength and reliability that the Arabs and the Israelis were convinced to work together.
“There are no Trump policies without Donald Trump,” Graham said. “I was there! You know why $400 billion was given by NATO nations? Because he asked, and they were afraid to say no. Every president since I’ve been up there has asked NATO to give more money, but they gave more money when he asked. People talk about China. You did something about China. They finally paid. Everybody’s been talking about China. You made them pay. You know why Mexico said yes to you? Because you scared the hell out of them by taking on China. You know why the Abraham Accords came about? It’s because you convinced the Arabs and the Israelis you were strong and you’re reliable. You killed the terrorists that needed to be killed. You convinced the Arabs to work with the Israelis. And the world was a better place. We live in a dangerous world right now.”
These accomplishments are proof that Trump was able to reign in the outrageous spending that the Democrats are all too often willing to indulge in. But, as Graham said, “The good news for the Republican Party, there are many talented people for years to come, but there is only one Donald Trump. And I say this sincerely: You can talk about his policies, but you could not do what he did.”
It’s clear that Trump’s leadership changed the game. I still see Graham as a RINO and I don’t think Trump should trust him any farther than he can throw him but I just know this speech set liberal heads on fire because it served to unite both Republicans and moderates who want to see our country restored to its pre-Biden greatness.
