Kourtney Kardashian used the season 8 premiere of “The Kardashians” to respond to Jennifer Lawrence, who called her “more annoying than ever” during a 2025 Vanity Fair lie-detector interview.
Lawrence made the comments after being asked which Kardashian family member was her favorite. She picked Khloé Kardashian, then took aim at Kourtney’s habit of making announcements on the show.
“Everything has to be an announcement,” Lawrence said. “It’s like, you know, ‘I’m not gonna wear outfits anymore.’ Like, just wear whatever you want. Don’t make an announcement about it. Or, like, ‘I don’t have a TV in my room.’ Like, just don’t watch TV. Stop announcing it. Just shh.”
Lawrence added that Kourtney “drives me nuts” and was “more annoying than ever.”
Kourtney, 47, said the sting was worse because her mother, Kris Jenner, had mentioned spending time with Lawrence and Emma Stone.
“My mom wrote something, like, ‘Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone, I talked to them last night, they’re the best,'” Kourtney recalled. “And I go, ‘F— that b—- Jennifer Lawrence.'”
She said she told her mother, “OK, she thinks she’s one of my sisters? I’ll f—ing slap the s— out of her,” adding, “I was like, ‘Invite her over and we can — I’ll go for it like she’s my sister.'”
Kourtney later talked it over with her friend Simon Huck, weighing whether to invoke her well-known physical fight with Kim Kardashian in a response to Lawrence.
“She asked Kim for my email, and then she sent me that email, which is so nice,” Kourtney said. “I mean, do I say something funny? Like, ‘You can come over and I’ll beat your f—ing a–?'” She added, “I’ll just say, next time you wanna come over, we can go at it — Kourtney and Kim style.”
Kourtney revealed Lawrence apologized to her by email, and admitted on rewatching the original remarks, they stung less than she first thought.
“When I rewatched it, I was like, ‘Oh, it’s not that bad, actually,'” she said. “But I’m also like, it was a really sensitive week when she sent it, and I felt like our show was airing and everybody was ganging up on me.”
The flap is an odd footnote in what has otherwise been a years-long friendly relationship between Lawrence and the Kardashian-Jenner family. In 2017, Lawrence guest-hosted “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and interviewed Kim, calling her an “utter obsession,” and recounted getting intoxicated at a dinner at Kris Jenner’s home. She also joked she’d been “obsessed” with Kim and the family “for over a decade in a really healthy way.”
Speaking on Amy Poehler’s “Good Hang” podcast in January, Lawrence addressed the backlash over her comments about Kourtney.
“I think that when I do press, I should do half [of] what normal people do,” Lawrence said. “Because I see my quotes and they’re insane. Like, ‘Jennifer Lawrence calls Kourtney Kardashian annoying.’ It’s just too … you know? It carries.”
