A Sonoma County jury found former Windsor Mayor Dominic Foppoli liable for sexually assaulting seven women, ordering him to pay roughly $13 million in compensatory damages. A separate phase of the trial covering punitive damages is still to come.
Foppoli, 44, has never faced criminal charges over any of the allegations against him. He denies wrongdoing and says the encounters were consensual. His attorney has signaled the defense may push for a new trial or an appeal.
The women’s allegations span nearly two decades, describing incidents between 2001 and 2020. The claims first became public in 2021 when multiple women spoke to the San Francisco Chronicle. Foppoli resigned as mayor of Windsor, a town in Sonoma County, California, that same month, in May 2021.
Fourteen women in total have come forward publicly with allegations against Foppoli, including Teen Mom star Farrah Abraham, who was not part of the case decided Friday. Abraham has her own civil suit pending against Foppoli, alleging he drugged and raped her in Florida in March 2021 after she attended a wine-tasting event. That case is set for trial in February 2027.
Abraham told police she had no memory of events following the encounter and gave investigators photos and video connected to it. The Palm Beach Police Department suspended its criminal investigation, citing evidentiary issues. California authorities likewise suspended their own investigation into the broader allegations against Foppoli, finding insufficient evidence within the statute of limitations.
Abraham reacted to the verdict, telling CBS she saw it as validation after years of criminal probes going nowhere.
“My first reaction was, thank God there was some justice. My heart just goes out to them. I hope this gives them peace,” Abraham said.
She said the lack of criminal charges against Foppoli remains a serious problem.
“That is very concerning that we are not having criminal justice,” Abraham said.
She said the outcome for the seven women has bolstered her own resolve heading into her 2027 trial.
“I am just so happy, I am so grateful that seven other Jane Does got justification,” Abraham told CBS.
Foppoli has not been criminally charged in connection with any of the 14 women’s allegations. The Post reported it reached out to Foppoli for comment.
