A federal judge has ordered country singer Jimmie Allen to pay nearly $1.8 million to a woman who accused him of sexual assault, and Allen is telling Fox News Digital that he, not his accusers, is the real victim.

The judgment, handed down in June, awards Jane Doe 2 $1,790,541 in compensatory and punitive damages. It followed a default ruling in August 2025 against Allen, meaning no jury ever weighed the competing accounts at trial. Instead, Allen and his touring company missed discovery deadlines, skipped court-ordered mediation and failed to obtain new counsel in time, according to court records.

“I’m pursuing options because I – me as a man and as a father and as the son and brother of real sexual assault victims – I cannot in good conscience do that,” Allen said. “And that’s why I feel like as a man and as a father, it is my job to fight it and find and chase whatever other options I can.”

Allen, 41, did not specify what legal action he plans to take. Fox News Digital reached out to his current attorney, Ted Anastasiou, for comment.

The 41-year-old Grammy nominee faced two separate civil lawsuits in 2023 from two women. Jane Doe 1, who worked as his day-to-day manager, accused him of raping her in 2021 and sexually harassing her for roughly 18 months afterward. Jane Doe 2 accused him of sexually assaulting her during a 2022 visit to his Las Vegas hotel room while he was in town for a bowling tournament, and claimed he secretly recorded the encounter without her consent.

Allen denied both women’s allegations and filed counterclaims in July 2023, accusing his former manager of defamation and accusing Jane Doe 2 of unlawfully taking his cellphone.

“I wanted to just get on social media and call them liars and things like that,” Allen said. “But it was interesting when I thought about it, someone said, ‘No, well, you’ll be a victim blamer and stuff like that.’ But I was like, ‘I’m the victim here.’ So they can say this about me, these horrible things about me and try to ruin and destroy everything that I worked my butt off for. But I can’t say that they’re lying.”

Blaming a sick lawyer

Allen pinned the breakdown in his defense on his former attorney, Alandis Brassel, a solo practitioner he said became seriously ill during the litigation. “I’m not in contact with the court. He is,” Allen said. “So during that time, we missed a deadline.” He claimed Brassel eventually told the court about the illness but that “the judge didn’t care,” resulting in his countersuit being dropped and Jane Doe 2 winning by default.

Court records, however, show a pattern of multiple missed deadlines and failures to comply with court orders, not a single lapse. Allen did acknowledge there was at least one deadline he believes he personally could have met. “I have no problem taking responsibility,” he said. “I could have, you know, maybe done more. Absolutely.”

Anastasiou, who took over as Allen’s counsel, told People magazine in August 2025 that “this ruling was not based on the merits of the allegations” and that Allen “has consistently and unequivocally maintained his innocence.” He called the default judgment a reflection of “prior representation” failures rather than wrongdoing, and said Allen intends to seek to have it set aside. Fox News Digital was unable to reach Brassel for comment.

Dueling accounts of the recording

According to Jane Doe 2’s lawsuit, she met Allen on a flight to Nashville in May 2022 and stayed in touch before visiting him in Las Vegas. She alleged she consented to sex but repeatedly told Allen she was not on birth control and did not want him to ejaculate inside her — a request she says he agreed to and then ignored. She also alleged Allen secretly positioned his phone to record them while she waited on the hotel balcony, believing he was arranging a surprise.

Allen disputes that account entirely, insisting the encounter was consensual and that Jane Doe 2 knew she was being filmed. “She said, ‘You were recording us without my permission.’ I said, ‘Oh, no, no.’ I said, ‘We were on the balcony. And I have all this in texts that we were on the balcony. I told you, I’m recording, is it OK? And I don’t ever hide my camera, ever. Ever. It’s not my thing,'” Allen said. He claimed the footage shows him passing out and Jane Doe 2 continuing sexual activity afterward before getting dressed and turning off the camera.

Elizabeth Fegan, the attorney who represented both women, rejected Allen’s version outright. “Mr. Allen’s attempt to portray himself as the victim is as outrageous as it is offensive to the women who have come forward to report his sexual misconduct,” Fegan said. “Let there be no ambiguity: Jane Doe 2 never consented to being recorded. Mr. Allen’s continued insistence otherwise does not change her account or the Court’s findings.” She added that “the real victim here is the woman whose privacy, bodily autonomy, and trust were violated” and said Allen “should stop attacking the women who came forward and start taking responsibility for his conduct.”

The manager’s allegations

Jane Doe 1 alleged Allen first assaulted her in March 2021 after an “American Idol” filming trip, claiming she woke up naked and in pain beside him with no memory of the night and that he insisted she take Plan B. She said the harassment and assault continued for about 18 months, and that she feared resisting could cost her career since she managed him.

Allen denied the allegations but acknowledged a consensual affair with Jane Doe 1 lasting roughly a year and a half, on and off. “I had an affair off and on for like a year and a half with my day-to-day manager,” he said. “We were adults that made a decision.” He added: “If I would have never cheated on my wife, I wouldn’t have been in that situation anyway. And that’s the part that I take accountability for.” Allen and Jane Doe 1 settled in 2024, dismissing their respective claims; her attorney said at the time she continued to stand by her sexual assault allegations and settled only to avoid reliving them at trial.

Fallout at home and in his career

Allen and his then-wife, Alexis Gale, separated and filed for divorce in April 2023, just before the first lawsuit went public, while also announcing Gale was pregnant with their third child, Cohen, born that September. The couple later reconciled briefly before finalizing their divorce in October 2024. Allen said the hardest conversation of the ordeal was with Gale, admitting he never warned her before the first lawsuit broke. “I handled that completely wrong,” he said.

He described his career collapsing almost entirely: “Everything I’ve worked for is just gone. Record label gone, management gone, bookings gone, PR gone, endorsement deals gone.” He said the pressure pushed him to a breaking point two years ago. “I was riding around my truck at like three in the morning and I had my gun in my lap and I was trying to decide, do I want to live or not,” he said.

Allen said he sought therapy and rehab afterward, and that the scandal, painful as it was, interrupted a destructive lifestyle of pills taken to stay awake and manage his mood under touring pressure. “My doctor said if I had kept going, I’d have been dead in six months,” he said.

He said Dolly Parton, Jelly Roll, Darius Rucker, Kathie Lee Gifford and Kid Rock reached out during the fallout. He has since recorded with Kid Rock on the Christian album “Halfway to Jesus” and said his priorities have shifted away from chart success. “It’s not about winning Grammys or CMAs or number one records,” he said. “It’s about doing what I love.”
