Jay-Z announced Monday he will headline the Super Bowl halftime show at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on Feb. 14, 2027. The rapper made the announcement in a statement to Complex.
“From ‘Reasonable Doubt’ to standing on the Super Bowl Halftime stage, this has been a journey,” Jay-Z said. “Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world’s biggest stage. This run continues to be a dream come true.”
Apple Music followed up with a black and white video of Jay-Z sitting inside SoFi Stadium with a goat in his lap.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said he personally asked Jay-Z to take the stage after the league partnered with his entertainment company, Roc Nation, to produce the halftime show.
“When we first reached an agreement with Roc Nation to produce the show, I had just one request: that JAY-Z take the stage himself one day, whenever the moment felt right to him,” Goodell said.
That partnership matters here. Jay-Z’s Roc Nation has been picking halftime headliners and running the production for the NFL, and insiders reported before Monday’s announcement that Jay-Z had decided he would be the headliner himself for the Los Angeles show.
He hasn’t released new music since his 2017 album 4:44, which went double-platinum. But he’s still working the stage. His 2026 concert tour wrapped this year, including two Yankee Stadium shows in July that sold out and brought in $42 million in ticket sales. In September, he pulled a $12 million payday for a sold-out show in Paris.
So the man who controls the NFL’s halftime production company has now chosen himself to stand in the spotlight it builds.
