Jalen Williams was taken off the court on a stretcher Saturday night at Paycom Center after suffering a gruesome lower-leg injury late in the Oklahoma City Thunder’s 108-101 win over the Los Angeles Clippers.

Williams drove to the basket for a layup when he was sandwiched between two Clippers defenders and went flailing to the ground. His left leg got caught beneath him on impact and bent awkwardly, causing the injury.

A team trainer immediately covered Williams’ left leg with a towel as staff waved over medical personnel and a stretcher. Thunder superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was visibly shaken on the court, pulling his jersey over his face at one point. Players on both teams, including several Clippers, appeared upset by what they had just witnessed.

Fans at Paycom Center broke into chants of “JDub” while Williams was being treated, and gave him a standing ovation as he was wheeled off the floor. Williams responded with two thumbs up to the crowd.

An emotional Gilgeous-Alexander, fighting back tears, said afterward, “I just feel bad for him.”

Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault did not sugarcoat the moment when he spoke to reporters after the game.

“Those are tough, man,” Daigneault said. “We’re not doing great. That’s tough on the guys. Everyone empathizes; I think both teams in those situations and so not doing great.”

Daigneault added that the injury “speaks for itself” and said he expects to have more information on Williams’ condition Monday.

The injury compounds a rough stretch for the All-Star wing, who played just 33 games in the 2025-26 season while battling strains in both hamstrings and a nagging shooting wrist injury.
