Jaclyn Smith, 80, writes in her new memoir that former “Charlie’s Angels” costar Tanya Roberts once invited her to a threesome with Roberts and her husband, Barry Roberts, during a flight to Hawaii to film the series.

The memoir, titled “I Once Knew a Guy Named Charlie,” was released earlier this month, timed near the September 22 fiftieth anniversary of “Charlie’s Angels.” Tanya Roberts died in 2021 at age 65.

According to Smith’s account, reported by People, Roberts and her husband had an open marriage and “wasn’t shy about it in the least, or about propositioning people to ‘swing’ with them.”

Smith says she turned down the offer made aboard the flight to Hawaii. She wrote that she nonetheless found Roberts’ openness about her sexuality to be “brave and self-aware.”

“The world is made up of all kinds of people with all kinds of passions, and hooray for that. My own perspective on marriage was traditional, based on the values I grew up with. Her choice seemed complicated to me, with great potential for hurt feelings.”

That quote, cited by USA Today, is how Smith summarized her reaction to Roberts’ lifestyle at the time.
