Social media personality Alix Earle, 25, told Interview magazine editor-in-chief Mel Ottenberg that she has never read a book in her life. The exchange was posted to Instagram Monday as part of a rapid-fire Q&A.
Asked, “What’s the last book you’ve read?” Earle answered, “I’ve never read a book.” She then added, “Like, maybe Dr. Seuss,” referencing the children’s books written by Theodor Seuss Geisel.
The comment section reacted quickly. One commenter wrote: “PSA during this literacy crisis: READING MAKES YOU HOT AND COOL.” Another wrote, “She’s never read a book? why are we listening to idiocy 😒 the world is beyond messed up.”
Other users questioned whether the claim was even plausible. “NEVER READ A BOOK!!!! Alix, what the hell??? Were you homeschooled? Did you not have to read to Kill a Mockingbird in 9th grade?? WHAT,” one asked.
Not everyone piled on. One supportive comment read, “She is funny and also magnetic asf… Can’t look away.”

Earle, star of the Netflix series “Earle Meets World,” also addressed the ongoing online debate over whether carrying an iced coffee into a job interview is unprofessional. “I don’t really see a problem with that,” she said while drinking an iced beverage. “I guess that’s a Gen Z problem.”
She was also asked whether she’d ever get back together with an ex. She initially said “no,” but when Ottenberg followed up by asking, “What was the last lie you’ve told?” she replied, “Probably that … I’m kidding.”
Earle split from NFL player Braxton Berrios, 30, in December 2025 after two years together. “Earle Meets World” later showed her asking Berrios by phone whether there was ever a chance of reconciliation. Berrios, who did not appear on camera, responded only, “Oh, Alix,” before the season ended.
