The Israel Defense Forces killed the last remaining member of the Hamas cell that paraded the body of murdered German-Israeli Shani Louk through Gaza on October 7, 2023. The IDF and Shin Bet announced Tuesday that Tamer Muhammad Ibrahim al-Sabbagh was killed in a Monday airstrike in Jabalia, in northern Gaza.

“The terrorist was eliminated in order to remove the threat he posed,” the IDF said.

Shani Louk, 22, was attending the Nova Music Festival when Hamas fighters stormed the site on October 7, 2023, killing and abducting young people fleeing the attack. Louk was among those killed. Video later surfaced showing terrorists parading her partially clothed body through the streets of Gaza in the back of a pickup truck while onlookers jeered and spat on her corpse. The footage became one of the defining images of the massacre’s brutality.

Al-Sabbagh’s death closes out the cell directly tied to her abduction and the desecration of her body. Three other members of the cell had already been killed in previous strikes on Gaza, and a fourth was captured by Israeli forces.

Louk’s family learned months after the attack that she had been killed. The IDF recovered her remains in Gaza in May 2024.
