Leaked prison phone calls show Gypsy Rose Blanchard told her then-boyfriend Ryan Anderson she “hoped” her on-and-off partner Ken Urker would overdose, nearly six years before Urker was found dead in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana. The recordings, obtained by the Daily Mail, capture conversations from December 2020 and March 2021.
Urker, 34, died Oct. 1, his birthday. His cause of death remains undetermined. The autopsy is complete, but toxicology results are pending, and the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office says its investigation is ongoing. Authorities found drugs, drug paraphernalia and a handgun with Urker at the scene, according to an incident report obtained by Page Six. Investigators have not found evidence of foul play, but have not ruled it out.
In the December 2020 call, Blanchard, 35, told Anderson she had sent Urker the Tate McRae song “You Broke Me First” after the two had been broken up for several months. She said of Urker leaving her: “Next thing you know, he gone.” She then told Anderson she had previously told Urker he could overdose.
“No, even after I told him he could overdose and all that, like, he still kept himself on my email, like, he never took himself off no matter how bad we got into it or how bad it seemed like we were at odds,” Blanchard said.
Anderson, 40, who was dating Blanchard at the time, appeared uncomfortable and told her he did not want to discuss Urker.
In a second call in March 2021, Blanchard again acknowledged telling Urker, “I hope he overdose[s].” In that same call, she described refusing to let a different romantic interest ignore her, saying she would show up at his door and throw cans at his car. Anderson responded, “Oh, Lord. I’ve gotta go. I don’t know that I want to talk to you anymore.”
A tangled history
Blanchard and Urker first connected as pen pals in 2017, while Blanchard was serving time for her role in the 2015 murder of her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard. She was convicted of second-degree murder in 2016 and released on parole in December 2023.
Blanchard and Urker became romantically involved and were engaged before calling it off. While still incarcerated, Blanchard began a relationship with Anderson, whom she married in a small prison ceremony in July 2022. After her release, that marriage collapsed, and the two separated in 2024.
Blanchard then rekindled her relationship with Urker, and the couple had a daughter, Aurora, in December 2024. The two split shortly before Urker’s death.
