The Biden administration’s mishandling of the US-Mexico border is a disgrace. Record numbers of illegal crossings have been reported since the president took office, and the situation is only getting worse.
However, Texas is taking a stand and not waiting around for the federal government to do its job. Governor Greg Abbott recently announced the appointment of a border czar and proudly tweeted about the construction of a wall the state is constructing along the border.
It’s refreshing to see a state step up and take action in the face of federal inaction. The wall is a strong symbol of Texas’s commitment to securing the border and protecting its citizens. We should all be thankful that Abbott is taking the matter into his own hands and putting the safety of his constituents first.
Footage of the wall construction was shot on Jan. 30 when Abbott held a press conference at the border to announce the appointment of veteran Border Patrol agent Mike Banks to serve as the first-ever border czar.
Abbott has criticized the Biden administration’s handling of the border, which has seen record numbers of illegal crossings since the president took office in January 2021.
He also announced in December that the construction of the wall along the state’s border with Mexico would resume.
The announcement came after months of negotiations between state officials and private property owners, ultimately coming to an agreement to construct infrastructure on their land.
The border wall construction project has been under development for months after the Texas Facilities Commission approved a $167 million contract with Southwest Valley Constructors Co. The project is intended to erect a nearly seven-mile border wall in the Del Rio area.

It’s time for the federal government to take a page out of Texas’s playbook and start taking the border situation seriously. The Biden administration needs to take immediate action to secure the border or face the consequences of failing to protect our country.
