FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr blasted California Democrat Representatives Anna Eshoo and Jerry McNerney for writing letters to television cable providers such as Amazon, Apple, AT&T, and Comcast, and suggesting they drop conservative news outlets such as Fox News, Newsmax, OANN, and others for “disseminating disinformation.”
It’s one thing to disagree with an ideology of certain hosts of certain networks while it is quite another to act as a totalitarian tyrant in trying to silence a First Amendment-protected entity such as a news outlet. Who the hell do these two think they are? These two members of Congress should be censured at least but should ultimately be expelled from Congress for their actions. What they did is a seriously dangerous act of trying to kill multiple clauses of the Constitution’s First Amendment protections against a tyrannical government run by people like Eshoo and McNerney.
Carr condemned the letters that proposed to the chief executives of the media companies seven questions regarding policies on how they determine whether or not to carry particular channels as an “effort to censor newsrooms.”
“By writing letters to the cable providers and other regulated entities that carry these news media outlets, the Democrats are sending a message that is as clear as it is troubling—these regulated entities will pay a price if the targeted newsrooms do not conform to Democrats’ preferred political narratives,” Carr wrote in a statement on the FCC website. “This is a chilling transgression of the free speech rights that every media outlet in this country enjoys.”
What’s more, we just reported on a story on Fox News’ Tucker Carlson making the serious and sober point that it is new outlets that Democrats favor, mainly CNN and MSNBC and pretty much every other mainstream news outlet that are the ones who spread misinformation every day of the year, which result in causing harm to many people.
Eshoo, 78, who represents California’s 18th Congressional District including Santa Cruz, and McNerney, 69, who represents the 9th Congressional District centered around Stockton, cited “experts” as declaring the “right-wing media ecosystem” – specifying Newsmax, One America News Network (OANN) and Fox News as “much more susceptible…to disinformation, lies, and half-truths.” Of course, these “experts” are themselves biased to the Left, otherwise, they would never have made such ridiculous claims especially when we have the likes of CNN and MSNBC.
It wasn’t Fox News, OANN, or Newsmax that lied repeatedly for over two-and-a-half years about a Russian collusion delusion hoax, and then never apologized for it after Special Counsel Mueller’s office revealed there was absolutely no evidence of collusion.
Democrats are sick people who project what they do onto their opponents. These two members of Congress, and anyone else who jumps on their bandwagon, should face serious sanctions for tarnishing an institution that already has lower ratings than Jeff Zucker’s network.
The two Democratic members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, who are behaving like the Colectivos in Venezuela, demanded, among that the CEOs tell them “what moral or ethical principles (including those related to journalistic integrity, violence, medical information, and public health) do you apply in deciding which channels to carry or when to take adverse actions against a channel?”
Carr denounced the two Democrats as viciously attacking First Amendment protections against Free Speech and Freedom of the Press.
“Debate on matters of public interest should be robust, uninhibited, and wide open. More speech is better than less,” Carr wrote. “Yet the concerted effort by Democrats to drive political dissent from the public square represents a marked departure from these First Amendment norms. A newsroom’s decision about what stories to cover and how to frame them should be beyond the reach of any government official, not targeted by them.”
It’s only a matter of time before the Supremacy gets to the Thief-in-Chief Biden or his Woke sidekick to have Carr replaced with someone who doesn’t care about the First Amendment.
What’s going on here is that the Democrats and the Left have already tried the robust debate route and they lost because their ideas suck. Most of their policies cause more problems and more harm to people than helping anyone but themselves and growing government even bigger than it already is. Now they are at the point where they no longer want to have a robust debate, they just want to shut down debate and shut down opposing views that point out how asinine their ideas really are. That’s what happens with all Woke Supremacies that emerge once an ideology crosses that thin line into tyrannical territory that is hell-bent on crushing freedoms in society. That’s where the Democratic Party is today.
