Country singer Ella Langley’s song “Choosin’ Texas” logged its 23rd week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week, surpassing Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” to become the longest-running No. 1 song in the chart’s history.
Langley celebrated the record Tuesday night in an Instagram video, telling fans she was struggling to find words for the moment.
“I’m genuinely trying to find the words to explain what’s going on in my brain today. What? I don’t know. Thank you so much. Thank you for loving this song, for listening to it. I feel like … I just don’t even know what to say at this point. I’m running out of hyperboles to describe how I feel, so I will just let my dog in the background show you his excitement.”
She continued, crediting the song’s success for reshaping lives beyond her own.
“Just thank you. Thank you so much. It’s changing my life. It’s changing the lives of the writers of this song. It’s changing the lives of my family, and it is truly growing an atmosphere for something I’m gonna be able to do the rest of my life, and I just … today doesn’t feel like a real thing. It feels fake and somebody’s going to come in and be like, ‘Haha, we’re kidding the whole time. Just kidding.’ I’m really excited to just experience a moment like this in my life.”
She said she planned to celebrate the milestone that night, closing the video by saying, “Choosin’ T … that’s the one huh?”
“Choosin’ Texas” first entered the Hot 100 in November 2025. It became Langley’s first top 10 hit in January and reached No. 1 for the first time in February, before going on to hold the top spot longer than any song in the chart’s history.
Facing down a snake on camera
Two days later, on Wednesday, Langley shared a TikTok video of herself handling several exotic animals, including a parrot she wore on her shoulder and a baby kangaroo she sat beside on a couch.
She then upped the stakes by holding an Argentine boa. “This is facing my fears a little bit,” she said as she was handed the snake. Langley appeared nervous at first but let the boa constrictor wrap around her shoulders and rest on her body. The video ended with her hugging a lemur.
Fans reacted to the clip in the comments. “So fun!” one wrote. Another said, “omg the snakes I would have ran.” Others praised her, with one writing, “You’re amazing. Please don’t ever change,” and another calling her “the cutest thing in life tho.”
