The 18-year-old arrested in connection with a shooting that wounded two teenagers outside an Eden Prairie High School homecoming football game has already been released from custody.
Adam Abdihakeem Adam, 18, of St. Louis Park, was arrested October 8 at the intersection of Highway 55 and Penn Avenue in Minneapolis. He was booked into Hennepin County Jail on probable cause for second-degree assault.
According to Hennepin County jail records reviewed by Fox News Digital, Adam posted bond and was released Saturday evening, just days after his arrest.
Police say Adam shot two teenagers, ages 17 and 18, outside Eden Prairie High School during its October 2 homecoming football game. The shooting forced an evacuation of the stadium, and the school’s homecoming dance was cancelled the following day. Both victims were hospitalized with gunshot wounds.
Authorities believe the shooting is connected to a feud between rival Somali gangs.
Political reaction
Adam’s release drew swift criticism. President Trump’s Rapid Response 47 account posted that “a Radical Left judge immediately granted him a no-condition bail.”
House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (MN-6) also responded publicly, writing on social media:
Another radical left-wing judge lets the Eden Prairie shooter, Adam Abdihakeem Adam, out of jail on a no-condition bail. When will the madness stop? How can we let someone who is believed to be tied with Somali gangs back out onto the street? This is another example of why our state is losing respect across the country. The soft on crime Democrats need to go, and we need to take our state back in November.
As of this report, no additional conditions have been attached to Adam’s release, and no further charges beyond the probable cause assault booking have been publicly detailed.
