The Department of Justice on Tuesday released nearly 30,000 pages of records connected to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein, the latest tranche of files the DOJ has published since beginning disclosures on Dec. 19.

The batch contains multiple new details, including a Bureau of Prisons psychological assessment from Epstein’s incarceration, a purportedly fraudulent passport and testimony from his cellmate describing what he says was Epstein’s first apparent suicide attempt. Among the pages is also an allegation from an unnamed accuser who stated that former President Bill Clinton’s name was invoked to discourage her from reporting the incident.

Key takeaways from the release include the following.

A Bureau of Prisons psychological evaluation dated July 9, 2019, and released Tuesday by the DOJ, rated Epstein’s immediate suicide risk as “low” and recorded no signs of suicidal thinking in the days before his death, according to internal prison notes.

The assessment explains Epstein was placed on precautionary psychological observation because of the high-profile nature of his case, not because he expressed any intent to harm himself.

“Inmate Epstein adamantly denied any suicidal ideation, intention or plan,” the chief psychologist wrote in the report.

The clinician observed Epstein as “polite, calm, and cooperative,” with “organized and coherent” thought processes and no indication of acute psychological distress. The evaluation records Epstein saying “being alive is fun,” describing himself as a banker with a “big business,” and expressing confidence about his legal representatives.

The psychologist concluded: “the Overall Acute Suicide Risk for this Inmate is: Low,” and recommended that “A suicide watch is not warranted at this time.”

Cellmate recounts finding Epstein during what was described as an earlier apparent suicide attempt

Newly released Bureau of Prisons documents provide additional detail about what Epstein’s cellmate, Nicholas Tartaglione, says he saw during what officials labeled the financier’s first apparent suicide attempt while in federal custody.

“I was asleep with headphones on when I felt something hit my legs,” Tartaglione told investigators, according to the memo.

“I turned on the light and saw Epstein on the floor with something around his neck,” he said, adding that Epstein seemed unresponsive.

The memo states Tartaglione immediately called for assistance. Correctional officers responded and Epstein was taken for medical evaluation; officials later treated the episode as an apparent suicide attempt.

The files also note Epstein later accused Tartaglione of trying to kill him — an allegation Tartaglione denied.

“That allegation is completely false,” Tartaglione told investigators, and Bureau of Prisons officials reported no evidence supporting Epstein’s claim.

Epstein was subsequently moved from the cell and placed under closer observation before his death weeks later, which was ruled a suicide.

Tartaglione was sentenced in 2024 to four consecutive life terms for murder, according to previous Fox News Digital reporting.

DOJ’S EPSTEIN DISCLOSURE DRAWS FIRE FOR WEBSITE GLITCHES, MISSING DOCUMENTS, REDACTIONS

One accuser, identified in the documents as Jane Doe, told attorneys in a sworn statement — included in Tuesday’s release — that she was warned Epstein’s connections to former President Bill Clinton could derail her career if she spoke out.

In the Aug. 27, 2019 statement, Jane Doe said that after fleeing an encounter at Epstein’s Manhattan home, another woman warned her that Epstein “knew a lot of powerful people, including Bill Clinton,” and implied rejecting him could end her modeling prospects.

She said the reference to influential figures felt like intimidation intended to keep her quiet.

The statement does not allege Clinton took part in or knew about the incident; Clinton has denied any wrongdoing in matters connected to Epstein.

The documents also include what appears to be a forged passport Epstein used in the 1980s. The passport, purportedly Austrian, lists the name “Marius Robert Fortelni” and gives Saudi Arabia as the place of residence.

In a 2019 filing with a federal judge about his detention on sex-trafficking charges, Epstein’s lawyers sought to downplay the passport’s significance.

“Eighth, as for the Austrian passport the government trumpets, it expired 32 years ago,” the lawyers wrote. “And the government offers nothing to suggest — and certainly no evidence — that Epstein ever used it.”

“In any case, Epstein – an affluent member of the Jewish faith – acquired the passport in the 1980s, when hijackings were prevalent, in connection to Middle East travel,” the letter continued. “The passport was for personal protection in the event of travel to dangerous areas, only to be presented to potential kidnappers, hijackers or terrorists should violent episodes occur.”

Other pages show Epstein requesting a razor to shave while in custody in the weeks before his death and detailing multiple complaints about his detention conditions.

A July 30, 2019 internal message labeled “Inmate Epstein” records a request for a razor and for water during attorney visits, saying the vending machine “does not have water” and that he was experiencing dehydration.

The same communication indicates Epstein claimed he did not receive all prescribed medications after being placed on psychological observation and said he had not slept well for 21 days because his CPAP machine was unavailable. He also complained about noise in the Special Housing Unit and warned the conditions could cause “psychological trauma.”
