In a recent CNN interview, Vermont Senator Rebecca White defended the ban of a Christian school that forfeited a state tournament game rather than play against a team with a transgender player.
“I don’t think it’s a bridge too far,” White said. “The athletes that we’re talking about are unlikely to go on to elite professional athletics, but that concept of discriminating against another person, it causes long-term outcomes for trans youth because they’re hearing rhetoric that tells them they are not valuable, that they’re dangerous.”
However, the school, Mid Vermont Christian School (MVCS), was not discriminating against anyone, but rather standing up for their beliefs. Vicky Fogg, the head of school for MVCS, said, “We withdrew from the tournament because we believe playing against an opponent with a biological male jeopardizes the fairness of the game and the safety of our players.”
Forcing schools, or anyone else for that matter, to go against their religious beliefs is wrong. To quote Olympic gold medalist Caitlyn Jenner, “We need to stop forcing girls to compete against boys in sports.”
The left is trying to normalize their woke ideologies, but the fact remains that forcing people to go against their religious beliefs and values is wrong. We should be respecting the beliefs of people who may not agree with us, not punishing or ostracizing them.
In this case, MVCS was standing up for their beliefs and forfeited the game rather than going against them. They deserve to be respected, not punished. The ban of MVCS is wrong and should be overturned.
I wonder if the school was forced to compete and one of the girls was hurt, would they just sweep that under the rug? I’m asking because something very similar happened in women’s MMA fighting where a trans person demolished several female competitors, essentially ending the career of at least one but no one wants to talk about stuff like that.
Biology matters and it doesn’t care how someone identifies.
