Ted Cruz was disgusted by Biden’s proposed solution to stop school shootings. The Texas Sen couldn’t help but point out what most people know to be true- a ban on guns is not going to stop a criminal.
During Biden’s speech Thursday he laid out his 2nd amendment changes explaining that rights are not ‘absolute’. Biden claimed that the house will be “Banning high capacity magazines. Raising the age to buy an assault weapon to 21. Federal red-flag law. Codifying my ban on ghost guns that don’t have serial numbers and can’t be traced. And tougher laws to prevent gun trafficking and straw purchases.”
Biden later went on to urge that gun makers be made liable for what people do with their products, “We should repeal the liability shield that often protects gun manufacturers from being sued for the death and destruction caused by their weapons. They’re the only industry in this country that has that kind of immunity.”
A frustrated Cruz snapped back:
“Just about everybody agrees he’s doing a terrible job. Just about everybody agrees this is a train wreck. And you know what’s frustrating about it? He’s not willing to change. He’s not willing to change course. This speech tonight, once again he chose to double down on hard-Left divisive politics.
Listen, I was at Uvalde last week the day after the shooting. I was there with the local officials and with law enforcement and with family members. What happened in Texas is horrific.
And anyone with any heartbeat is horrified that 19 little boys and girls were murdered, that two teachers were murdered. And what does Joe Biden and the Democrats do?
They don’t come back and say, “Let’s unite behind law enforcement to stop criminals, to keep our kids safe.” Nope. They immediately demagogue and say the solution is to take away your weapons, to disarm law-abiding citizens.”
Watch
Democrats continually refuse to come to the table to discuss tackling the nation’s mental health problem, safeguarding schools, or supporting law enforcement. For them, it’s the ban or nothing. That just speaks volumes to me about where their real priorities are.
