At the Golden Globes ceremony on Sunday night, comedian Jim Gaffigan referenced the accusations of misconduct facing several high-profile actors in Hollywood.

Before announcing the winner for Best Performance in Stand-Up Comedy on Television, Gaffigan mentioned his background and stated that he is “not a pedophile.”

His joke received an awkward response from some audience members, with many remaining silent.

The remarks come after various actors such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Cate Blanchett, Cameron Diaz, Chris Tucker, Kevin Spacey, and Sarah Ferguson were listed in Jeffrey Epstein’s case documents.

Per The Independent:

At the 2024 Golden Globes, Gaffigan hosted an award and, beforehand, addressed the controversy surrounding the Epstein list.

After arriving on stage, he said: “This is so exciting for me. The Golden Globes – I can’t even believe I’m in the entertainment industry.

I can’t. You know, it’s so unlikely. I’m from a small town in Indiana. I’m not a pedophile. I don’t know if that’s a new category here, but…”

Gaffigan’s joke set awkward laughter rippling through the ceremony, which was held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.
