Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber have publicly confirmed the death of their 27-year-old son, Presley, releasing a statement Sunday on Crawford’s Instagram.

“We are beyond heartbroken to lose our beloved son and brother,” the statement read, accompanied by a black-and-white photo of Presley with angel wings. “We feel so blessed to have had Presley in our lives for 27 years. He is a sweet, beautiful soul who loved and is loved, now and forever. We are so proud of how he showed up in the world, with kindness and vulnerability.”

Crawford also thanked those who reached out, saying the family felt “the outpouring of love and support from so many who know and love our family and even strangers who feel our pain.” The statement closed: “Til we meet again our sweet boy. We love you forever, Mom, Dad and Kaia.”

Presley died at an undisclosed rehab facility on Sept. 20 of a suspected overdose. A cause of death has not been officially confirmed. He was the oldest child and only son of Crawford, 60, and Gerber, 64, who married in 1998. He is survived by his sister, actress and model Kaia, 25.

Presley had spoken publicly in recent years about his addiction and mental health struggles. In a 2023 appearance on the “Studio 22” podcast, he described dealing with “mental health, depression and some other things that come along with that,” and said he had spent significant time in therapy. “It is such a big part of my life,” he said. “It’s a 24/7 job, and there’s so much to it.”

In 2024, he wrote on Instagram Stories about “dealing with [a] current, very high opioid addiction,” according to The List. In March, he posted that he had “started finding [his] way back to [him]self,” adding, “We shall see. Praying it’s the last time I have to come back [to treatment]. Next time I’d like to choose.”

One month before his death, Kaia told Vogue in August 2026 that her brother had changed how the family handled its private struggles. “My parents for most of our lives were very, very private and didn’t share anything — and now we have this absolute teacher, my brother, who says, ‘I’m gonna be very human for everyone,'” she said, adding that his openness was “why I started to self-identify as the easy one and never wanted to ask for help.”

When news of Presley’s death broke Sunday, Kaia and her parents issued a joint statement asking for “privacy during this very difficult and painful time.”
