Rep. Lauren Boebert snapped at a reporter who raised allegations linking her to Rep. Thomas Massie, calling the question sexist and clickbait before walking away, and the exchange unfolded against the backdrop of recent claims from a former congressional staffer and Massie’s primary loss and re-election filing.

The interaction started when a reporter asked Boebert about allegations raised by a woman who has come forward with claims involving Massie, and Boebert erupted with a sharp, explicit rebuke that cut the line of questioning short. “F – – – you, first of all!’ Boebert said to a Fox News Digital reporter when bringing up claims from Massie’s alleged ex-girlfriend.” She made it clear she would not be drawn into repeating or amplifying unproven gossip in that moment.

She spelled out her frustration directly, telling the reporter, “If you’re gonna bring me into this, like, the sexist stuff is like out of control,” and then added, “So there’s your clickbait that you were looking for.” That language was pointed and visceral, framed as a rejection of what she described as sensationalized media tactics rather than an effort to address the substance of the accusations. After that exchange she declined to discuss the matter further and left the interview.

The allegations themselves were brought publicly by Cynthia West, a former congressional staffer, who has accused Massie of inappropriate behavior and separately alleged he offered money related to a wrongful termination suit she was pursuing. Those are serious claims that, as with any allegation, require careful handling and proper inquiry, not instant judgment or scandal-driven headlines. From Boebert’s perspective, the focus should be on facts and fairness rather than feeding into a media feeding frenzy.

The interview came in the midst of broader political conversations about the direction of the GOP and the impact of President Trump’s efforts to back primary challengers against incumbents, a strategy that has reshaped several races. Boebert was answering questions about whether that strategy is helping or hurting the Republican agenda when the interviewer pivoted to the personal allegations, and she responded bluntly, “I mean, obviously Thomas Massie is the only one that I’m a little sad about.” Her reaction mixed political disappointment with blunt dismissal of the tabloid angle.

Massie himself recently filed paperwork indicating an intent to run again, and in his public post he wrote, “I haven’t made a final decision about which office to seek, if I run,” a line that left observers speculating about his next move. Boebert addressed the filing too, saying, “He filed for something,” she said. “He didn’t specify what and I don’t know if he’s going to move forward with that or not. I don’t know.”

On top of the procedural and political noise, Boebert also made a remark about Massie’s future prospects beyond Congress, saying, “Hopefully he leaves here and makes some money,” Boebert added, which landed as a dry, dismissive note amid the rest of the back-and-forth. That comment underscored her impatience with the entire line of questioning and signaled a desire to move past personality-driven controversies. Republicans watching the clip will hear a message about priorities: policy and performance over palace intrigue.

The scene ended quickly after the heated retort, with Boebert declining further comment and walking away while reporters continued to press for answers that she refused to provide on camera. That departure left the allegations still circulating in news cycles but also highlighted the tensions between members of Congress and a media environment hungry for drama. For Boebert and allies, the episode reinforced a pushback narrative against what they see as intrusive or sensational reporting tactics.

Whatever the full truth of the accusations may be, the encounter emphasized how quickly briefings can detour into personal territory and how politicians respond when they feel the discussion has crossed a line. Boebert’s blunt reaction became the story, and she made a point of shutting down the exchange rather than engaging with speculation in public. The interview closed with the representative walking off and the controversy left to play out in other forums.
