Bo Bice, the Season 4 “American Idol” runner-up known for his long hair and Southern rock style, has shaved off his signature look. He posted the change on Instagram, appearing with shorter hair, sunglasses, layered necklaces and an open patterned shirt.
Reaction split fast. One commenter wrote, “Very different look but I would suggest to ditch the necklaces and button up the shirt.” Another was blunter: “I don’t care at all for the new look! It’s awful. Do, however, like to [hear] him sing. Not onto that look at all! YUK!”
Bice didn’t flinch. He posted a “Then and Now” split-screen comparing the old rocker image to the new one, captioned: “Well, well, Tinkerbell… Who’s THAT guy?!” The graphic read “A BRAND NEW MAN · RESURRECTED 2027.”
Not everyone objected. “Look good! Glad you are back!” one fan wrote. Another said, “You looked good then and now. Keep rockin!” A third added, “Let’s go Bo!! I was cheering for you then & now as well!!”
Bice also signaled he’s returning to music after a two-year break. “Ain’t it funny what 2 years’ll do in your life,” he wrote, noting he hasn’t released new music since “Born of Heroes Blood,” which won Most Impactful Song of the Year – Vocalist at the Hollywood Independent Music Awards. “Here’s a blast from my past and a glimpse into my future with a new life, new style, but the same southern soul. I’m here to offer you a #BRANDNEWMAN!” he wrote.
Bice finished runner-up to Carrie Underwood on “American Idol” in 2005, building a following on his gritty vocals, Southern rock sound and long hair.
