Alejandro Mayorkas, Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, has been in charge for the majority of the Biden administration’s reign.
Unfortunately, the situation on the U.S. Southern border has only worsened under his watch, and he recently had to take part in a press conference to defend the Biden administration’s handling of the crisis.
When asked about the chaotic situation on the border, Mayorkas tried to dodge the question by saying it would take time for the administration’s approach to show results.
However, it should be noted that many of the measures he claimed would help the situation have yet to be implemented.
At another point in the press conference, a reporter asked why illegal immigrants wouldn’t be registered and given court dates, and instead asked to self-report to Immigration and Customs Enforcement within 60 days. Mayorkas tried to pass this off as a normal procedure, but it is essentially just an honor system.
Mayorkas claimed that it was “not an honor system.”
“What we do is we use the resources that we have to meet the challenges that we confront,” he claimed. “This is a tool that has been used in the past.
The vast majority of individuals will indeed be placed in expedited removal and, if they do not qualify, will be removed in a matter of days, if not weeks, from the United States.”
“If those individuals do not honor their commitment to surrender to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement Officer to be able to be placed in enforcement proceedings, they are a subject of our apprehension efforts,” Mayorkas added, effectively admitting that it was an honor system.

It’s clear that Mayorkas and the Biden administration have failed to produce any tangible results when it comes to the border crisis.
The Biden administration has only made matters worse by ending Title 42, the public health order that enabled the U.S. to quickly deport illegal immigrants.
This was done in order to appease the radical left, and now the U.S. is paying the price.
Mayorkas and the Biden administration must take responsibility for this crisis and take immediate action to fix it.
They cannot continue to make excuses and expect the public to accept their failure. The American people deserve better, and it’s time for Mayorkas and Biden to take real action.
