Remember when the entire universe of leftists trashed President Donald Trump when he said that our government had intelligence that showed the coronavirus – COVID-19 in particular – started in a lab in Wuhan, China? Remember how the Brian Stelters of CNN and the conspiracy nut MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow and the New York Times, the Washington Post, pundits galore, and even some Republicans, those in academia, and of course the social media tech tyrants all said it was ridiculous, and that Trump said it with no evidence?
Well, as it turns out, we have been living on the event horizon of a black hole of stupid.
Three researchers from the Wuhan Institute of Virology got sick enough with COVID-like symptoms back in November 2019 that they had to be hospitalized, according to an American intelligence report.
The Wall Street Journal first reported the intelligence on Sunday that lends credibility to the Wuhan lab virus leak theory that proposes the COVID-19 pandemic started in China’s only biosafety level-4 laboratory.
This intelligence is significant because it proposes that the virus was spreading inside China a lot earlier than what the Chinese communist party has admitted. China traced patient zero to a man who got sick back on December 8. However, since we know there is a significant incubation period, if they told us the researchers at the Wuhan lab were sent to the hospital a month prior, then the virus had to be spreading earlier than what they originally told the world.
An official described the intelligence as being “of exquisite quality.” That means it’s very trustworthy.
“The information that we had coming from the various sources was of exquisite quality. It was very precise. What it didn’t tell you was exactly why they got sick,” the official told WSJ.
And a different official (probably a Trump hater) told WSJ that while the intelligence was potentially significant, they needed additional corroboration to be definitive. So we went from “very precise” to needing “additional corroboration.” So, who do you believe?
The State Department put out a fact sheet toward the end of the Trump administration and it appears this newly revealed intelligence corroborates it. The sheet cites classified intelligence and suggests that COVID-19 possibly escaped from the Wuhan lab by infected researchers.
That report said, “US government has reason to believe that several researchers inside the WIV became sick in autumn 2019, before the first identified case of the outbreak, with symptoms consistent with both Covid-19 and seasonal illnesses.”
China’s Foreign Ministry opposed the intelligence and continued to suggest COVID-19 originated in the United States.
“The U.S. continues to hype the lab leak theory,” the foreign ministry told WSJ. “Is it actually concerned about tracing the source or trying to divert attention?”
The communist Chinese government has fought against any transparency using investigations to search for the pandemic’s origins.
“The Wuhan Institute hasn’t shared raw data, safety logs, and lab records on its extensive work with coronaviruses in bats, which many consider the most likely source of the virus,” the WSJ noted.
China tried to blame wet markets in Wuhan as the source for COVID-19 but scientists (the famous bat lady) have said that the bat that supposedly is responsible isn’t found for hundreds of kilometers from Wuhan.
A spokeswoman for the National Security Council reiterated concerns about the pandemic’s origins but declined to comment further.
“We continue to have serious questions about the earliest days of the Covid-19 pandemic, including its origins within the People’s Republic of China,” the spokeswoman said. “We’re not going to make pronouncements that prejudge an ongoing WHO study into the source of SARS-CoV-2. As a matter of policy, we never comment on intelligence issues.”
Just about every Trump hater denounced the Wuhan lab leak theory claiming there was no evidence to support it, but when you listened to any of their denouncements, they didn’t provide any information proving it didn’t originate in Wuhan. They’ll say that’s having to prove a negative, but that’s not how journalism is supposed to work.
And then we had the World Health Organization (WHO) acting like the PR firm for China claiming it was “extremely unlikely” that COVID-19 originated in the Wuhan lab. But then we found out they were getting lots of money from the Chinese government to boost its influence with the health organization.
Eighteen noteworthy scientists published a letter this month where they called for increased investigations into the Wuhan lab leak theory:
“Theories of accidental release from a lab and zoonotic spillover both remain viable.”
These scientists admonished the WHO’s conclusion because the health organization didn’t give the theory balanced consideration, writing, “Only 4 of the 313 pages of the report and its annexes addressed the possibility of a laboratory accident.”
Dr. Anthony Fauci, the White House chief medical adviser, also said this month that he is no longer convinced COVID-19 originated naturally and that it may have come from the Wuhan lab. Many believe Fauci sent the Wuhan lab the coronavirus after the Obama administration told him to stop working with it because it was too dangerous.
The report ends with “Today’s revelations just scratch the surface of what is still hidden about COVID-19’s origin in China. Any credible investigation into the origin of COVID-19 demands complete, transparent access to the research labs in Wuhan, including their facilities, samples, personnel, and records.”
