Amazon has cut the price of the best-selling LEGO Classic set to $33, a discount of nearly 50 percent, weeks before Prime Day officially begins on October 6 and 7.
The set includes toy windows and doors, two green baseplates, and six tires with wheel rims, giving kids a large enough brick collection for extended, open-ended building.
Parents don’t need to wait for the official Prime Day sale to grab it. The discount is live now on Amazon.
Research backs up what many parents already believe about the toy. Last year, researchers from Loughborough University and the University of Surrey found that working LEGO bricks into kids’ daily school curriculum improved their math and spatial abilities.
Parents have also reported the toy helping with behavior and focus. One reviewer wrote about using the set with a son who has ADHD and ODD:
“LEGOs have been a major tool we have used to teach following directions in a non-abrasive way. They also allow him to not only follow directions and feel proud of what he accomplished, but the opportunities are endless.”
The same reviewer said the set lets their son either follow a specific build or invent his own creation, and that it holds his attention longer than other toys.
Other options currently on sale include a 608-piece customizable orchid set with rotatable leaves, roots, stems and blooms; a haunted mansion set timed for Halloween aimed at more experienced builders; and a miniature plant set featuring nine buildable arid, tropical and carnivorous plants in their own terracotta pots.
