Former NFL receiver Antonio Brown is booked to make his stand-up comedy debut at the New England Comedy Club in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on Dec. 18 — while he still faces an attempted murder charge in Florida.
The club’s website says Brown will perform and offer meet-and-greet opportunities with fans. Tickets are on sale now for $77.
Brown was expected to plead no contest to aggravated assault as part of a deal to avoid jail time, but his court date was postponed. He accepted the arrangement from Miami-Dade County prosecutors after initially facing a second-degree murder charge carrying a possible 30-year prison sentence.
His attorney, Mark Eiglarsh, said last month the plea deal would “dramatically reduce the criminal charge against him and result in probation rather than a prison sentence.”
The case stems from a shooting on May 16, 2025, outside a celebrity boxing event in the Little Haiti neighborhood of Miami.
A career defined by chaos
Brown’s final NFL appearance came in 2022, when he stripped off his Tampa Bay Buccaneers jersey and pads mid-game and ran off the field before halftime, throwing peace signs to the crowd. Tom Brady was Tampa Bay’s quarterback that season; the two had won a Super Bowl together the year before, with Brown catching a touchdown in the 31-9 rout of the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LV.
Brown and Brady had also played together on the New England Patriots after Brown was released by the Las Vegas Raiders. That stint ended quickly — Brown was released amid a sexual assault investigation after just one game.
Since leaving the league, Brown has remained a constant presence in the tabloids. He mocked Kamala Harris and her 2024 running mate Tim Walz at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania, then later turned to criticizing and mocking Trump himself on social media. He has also publicly harassed Brady over his divorce from Gisele Bündchen and pursued a rap career, among other controversies.
Earlier in his career, Brown was one of the top receivers in the league, earning seven Pro Bowl selections and leading the NFL in receiving twice with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Even then, he drew attention for erratic behavior, including going on Facebook Live in the locker room after a 2017 playoff win and driving 100 mph on a 45-mph road hours before a Thursday night game.
Now he’s set to take the stage for laughs in Cambridge while his Miami-Dade criminal case remains unresolved.
