T-Mobile has decided to discontinue its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies, aligning itself with Verizon and adhering to the directives of the Trump administration. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Brendan Carr shared a letter sent to the FCC, indicating that “T-Mobile will no longer have any individual roles or teams focused on DEI.” This move signals a shift in corporate culture, focusing on core business objectives rather than DEI initiatives.

Mark Nelson, T-Mobile’s executive vice president and general counsel, explained in the letter that the company has removed DEI references from employee training materials. The focus will now be on achieving core business goals and anti-discrimination instruction without separate DEI objectives. T-Mobile chose not to comment when approached by the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Carr praised T-Mobile’s decision as a positive step for equal opportunity and the public interest. Will Hild, Executive Director of Consumers Research, echoed this sentiment on X, saying, “A big victory for @BrendanCarrFCC — @TMobile is a German company, pushing far-left EU politics in America.” Hild emphasized that such influences should not be tolerated in the United States.

This decision by T-Mobile follows Verizon’s earlier announcement in May to end its corporate DEI initiatives. Verizon’s changes came after Carr expressed concerns in February over the company’s continued DEI promotion. The company asserted that it had eliminated DEI not just in name, but in essence.

Verizon’s Chief Legal Officer, Vendana Venkatesh, confirmed in a letter to Carr that the company is making substantial changes to its practices.
